Perfect Chicago Weekend
By KYKAT, 1/23/12
I stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel for a leisure weekend with my husband and niece and it could not have been a better experience. From Stan who greeted us and took charge of our bags, to the front desk check-in to Sam who delivered our bags and was a wealth of information on the hotel and surrounding area. Our room was clean, nicely appointed and a decent size. The staff everywhere was wonderful. We ate at Michael Jordans restaurant and at the Continental and at both the food was good and waitstaff courteous and attentive. The hotel is right across from Nordstroms and within a few blocks of other great stores. We were able to catch the 146 to Museum Campus right across the street. This was meant to be a special weekend for our niece's 18th birthday and the Intercontinental certainly played it's part.

Stay somewhere else
By Steve, 7/18/10
In from Minneapolis and was hoping to stay on Michigan Ave at hotel. When we arrived we were told a previous guest had extended their stay so we did not have a room. The hotel moved us to another hotel 2 miles away in a less than desireable location. Management on duty was unfriendly and even stated they would call security if we did not leave. They gave us $15 for cab fare. Will never stay there again.

Rude scam artists
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/13/09
To start with, this hotel had the worst customer service. They were impossible to work with on EVERYTHING! Now, the problems we had in chronological order. First, we arrive at 8 PM Sat. to check in. They did not have the room with 2 beds we had reserved available, so they offered us a room with one bed and a rollaway (free of charge). However, the room was not ready yet. Finally at 10.30! (2.5 hrs later) we were able to get our room keys. But, there was no rollaway. Another 30 mins and 3 phone calls later, we had a rollaway, but had to get the charge waived a second time. Now we go to check out on Mon. and they couldn't print us a bill or give us a total. We stop 3 hrs down the road to get gas only to find out that our bank card had been overdrawn $2,127.00! We called the bank and found out the hotel had ran our card through 3 TIMES, for $709 each, when our bill was supposed to be $450. After sitting at the gas station on the phone for 1.5hrs, the money was finally put back in our account so we could continue our trip home. I would recommend a Holiday Inn over the Intercontinental any day.

I'm impressed!
By DanielleW, 8/16/09
My boyfriend and I just came back today from our vacation in Chicago. We booked our flight and hotel arrangements through priceline and we each paid $300 for roundtrip airfare from Minneapolis to Chicago and three nights at the InterContinental. It is an amazing hotel for an amazing price. It is centrally located which is very convenient. We had an awesome view of Michigan Ave and thought that the staff was very kind and informative. One word of advice, there is a 7-Eleven a few blocks away...go there for your soda and snacks because the mini-bars in your room charge you about $5 for a soda. Insane! The room itself was very reasonable, but the extras such as room service and mini-bar are very expensive. I never did get a chance to take a dip in the pool (too busy sight-seeing), but the pool looked great. One poster said you need to pay to use the pool....this is not true. The pool and sauna are free, the exercise room is a small fee. Check out a segway tour, they are awesome and a great way to do some sightseeing in Chicago. I also recommend trying some Chicago Deep-Dish pizza, yummy!

Glad I didn't foot the bill.
By GretchenF, 7/13/09
I won a trip to Chicago, so the company reserved a room here. We arrived from O'Hare at 10 AM. The front desk clerk was less then friendly about it. Said that they would call when our room was ready, but no phone call ever came. After touring the city, about 4 PM returned back to finally get into our room. It took another fourty-five minutes to get our bags to our room. I was happy to hear the fee was for the fitness room only, and not the pool. It's a beautiful pool, but my small child could not touch the bottom. There is only a latter to climb in and out, so my smaller child didn't do much swimming. The housekeeping was awesome, left extra pillows and towels the first day without being asked. Location was great, just not very customer friendly.

Wonderful Experience
By Lynn D, 6/8/09
I must say that our stay was absolutley wonderful. The staff were very friendly and professional..fees are clearly stated in regards to room service, mini bar, amenities, parking, etc. Thus there should be no surprises if you take the time to read. I did not feel the room was small...we had a sofa and nice business desk. The king bed was very comfortable...I would say one of the most comfy I have had in a long time. The wings in the bar are a must! This hotel made sure our stay was excellent from the minute we departed the cab to the time we had to leave. The location was in the heart of shopping, activities, dining, etc. I would definitely stay here again and look forward to returning!

We paid for a room to sleep not to hang out in....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/16/09
We stayed here last weekend and it was great. We felt that it was very pricey looking but look where you are at... Chicago!!! Everthing cost $$$ here.. We wanted to see the city and see the city is what we did. We could not beat the price from hotwire.. The bed was very comfy. Paying for the in room snacks would be just unfortunate ($5 for a king snickers LOL!!) and $53 a day to park your car is a bit steep but we didnt need a car... I would stay here again in a second. Bring my own snacks. The location rocks!!

It was wonderfully luxurious
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/09
United put us up here due to a mechanical failure so I was sure it was going to be a bargain hotel. What a pleasant surprise. The bathroom was beautiful, the beds comfy, we didn't want to leave!

HORRIBLE-DECOR DOESNT MAKE UP FOR BAD SERVICE
By DanielleE, 3/23/09
They were horriblly rude! They added items to my bill and during checkout they treated us like we were lying about it. When they reviewed the cameras and saw that they made the mistake we werent even offered an apology. I almost missed my plane and I missed the shuttle dealing with it and they were so rude and obnoxious about it. Plus dont even think about room service as they overcharge you like no other hotel I've ever been. A regular omelette with only cheese was $37.50-yes, $37.50. Plus, the amenities aren't even free. You have to pay for the internet. you have to pay for the gym and the pool. I would never go back there ever!
