watch out for roaches!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/5/11
nice location, just a few steps away from the beach. very relaxing to sit in the lanai with a good view of the water. however, watch out for roaches!!! every night we'd catch roaches in the kitchen. the worst part was when we saw one on our bed which freaked us out that we hardly slept that night. we called the management and they sent somebody to spray the area but still we saw roaches that very night. it could have been a nicer condo had it been roach-free!!!

What a Great Trip!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/5/11
Kamaole Sands is a Great complex! First off..DO YOUR RESEARCH!! These units are individually owned. We rented through VRBO.COM and it was the best! We got to see exactly what we were renting!! When booking through other sites..like a travel agent or some hotel site..you are taking your chances. There are units in this complex that are AMAZING inside!! Some even have central A/C! There are others that still have all the original interiors..which are pretty darn old and gross! Just check out some of the open houses that go on everyday!! We loved having the beach right across the street, a kid pool for our 2 year old daughter and a workout room (thati has A/C) to keep up my daily routines. For the price and the conviences...you can't beat it!

Awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/6/08
Terrible. The air conditioning unit was so noisy that any conversation was impossible unless it was turned off. Forget about music or TV. The bedroom was right opposite the lift and the window blind was so flimsy you could see through it. There was a lot of traffic noise. We booked this place through a travel agent in Oahu and would have complained if we had been staying there for more than the three nights we were there. We couldn't be bothered, as we were out most of the time anyway. We put the aircon on when we were out, so it was cool when we arrived back and we could then turn off the noise. There was no way anyone could have slept that way. It was a terrible waste of money and it spoilt our stay on Maui. There is absolutely no way we would return.

Loved unit 5-112!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/9/08
When searching for a unit for our July trip in '06, are requirements were simple: clean, and family-friendly. After 3 weeks of research, we chose unit 5-112. It was perfect for our needs. The kitchen and baths were re-done (clean), and the unit was ground floor. There was a queen bed, and 2 twins, and a sleeper sofa. We were close enough to the pool, but not too close so as to hear the noise. The beach was right across the street, and we enjoyed walking through the well-manicured grounds. Checking in was quick and painless. The unit had a real sense of home, and we knew we had made the right choice.

BED BUGS BEWARE...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/08
The location is perfect, the condo was nice and seemed clean. It also had a great view. I just couldn't figure out what the heck was eating me alive every night. I had over 50 bug bites all over my arms and legs (not real attractive in a bikini). I called the front desk at 11pm the 3rd night we were there...I couldn't take it anymore. They said it was too late and there was nothing they could do. Frustrated...we ended up sleeping on the floor in the living room. The next morning we left for breakfast and shopping. We got back to the condo around noon and they were spraying for bugs. The sheets were off the bed and that's when I noticed how stained and gross the sides of the mattress were. I went to the doctor when I got home and they told me I definitely had bed bug bites. I was so disgusted. I did more research on bed bugs and realized that it was bed bug droppings all over the mattress we were sleeping on. I called Kamaole Sands when I got back from the doctors, and they said they never had beg bugs and that they go through this whole special sanitation process to clean the bedding. There must be a real reason why they do all this extra work...I'm itching just thinking about it again.

so so
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/27/07
THIS IS A MASSIVE CONDO COMPLEX, THE AMENITIES ARE OK. I WASN'T TOO HAPPY IT DID NOT FEE LIKE A RESORT, IT FELT LIKE AN CROWDED APARTMENT COMPLEX. OH AND WE HAD TINY TINY ANTS ALL OVER THE KITCHEN!!! THE POOL IS VERY SMALL FOR AS LARGE AS THE COMPLEX IS. THEY DO HAVE NICE TENNIS COURTS IF YOU PLAY.

We loved it here! We stayed in a 2 bed 2 bath partial view room and enjoyed it! The condo is close to shopping and the Kam III beach. Very nice beach! I will stay here again!

Definitely a do-again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/07
Having read some of the bad reviews, we were a little anxious about just what we were getting into. Our unit is owned by a snowbirding canadian couple who live there six months a year. This showed itself by the unit being very well stocked with kitchen ware, recently upgraded bathrooms and kitchen, and very liveable furniture (not cheap hotel tacky). So, ask for a unit that is lived in as opposed to just rented out. For those who complained that the air conditioning wasn't powerful enough, just open the louvers at both the sliding door and over the front door for cross ventilation. We did that the first morning, and never used the A/C again. As for the rooms not being cleaned daily, they TELL you when you check in they do bedding every fifth day. Our housekeeper was there every day to ask if we needed towels, garbage emptied, etc., and was very sweet and friendly. As a final note, the front desk was very helpful giving us maps to the hospital and local aftercare clinics as my husband hurt himself the first day. They have all that sort of thing all figured out, it's all planned for to help save their guests from having to do it in an emergency. Kudos!

Crawling with bugs!!
By Lindsey, 9/16/07
This place is in an excellent location and was a great layout, but it was extremely dirty and crawling with bugs. The cleaning people are extremely lazy and the room was very unkept. All units are individually owned, but all cleaned by the same terrible crew. They do not dust or vacuum. I got up every night to make my baby a bottle to find 15-20 roaches on the kitchen counter. I woke up every morning with at least 2 new bug bites on my legs. I am very disappointed in the cleanliness of this place. It's a great location, but way too dirty for me!!

Waited to long to go, going again but longer
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/18/07
Fantastic grounds, staff excellent to deal with. Great location across the road from the patrolled beach, Great access to all areas, poor b.b.q facilities! Best sunset views and quiet in the evenings!
