Best way to go to Disney!
By ,
What is not to love about this place. We stayed at the campground, in our own camper, and you spend very little time in your hotel anyway in disney! It was great! Went in Jan, and it wasnt too cold for us, and the campground was good enough to eat off the ground, even the bathrooms -- it was THAT clean!

I LOVE IT HERE!!! GREAT FAMILY PLACE!
By ,
I love that at night there are FAMILY frindly movies on where the whole family can go and just hang out and be togeather. There is so much to do, and you are never at a loss or board. This is truly my family's favorite place to stay in Disney World.

Ft. Wilderness Cabins Rundown
By ,
Loved staying in the cabins, but...the last two times there we had to stuff paper towels in the crack in the door to keep bugs out. We also reported a bathroom window that would not lock and could be pulled directly out of the frame. The cabin we got wreaked so much of cigarette smoke, we had to spend$25.00 in cleaning supplied and air freshener to make it useable. The overall experience of being a the campground cabins is wonderful, but they are getting so run down now. Disney needs to invest some money in new upholstery and curtains and other fix me ups. For the cost of the cabin, we should be able to have top notch quality, but it isn't there anymore.

Peace and quiet, with a lotta fun thown in
By ,
The entire Ft. Wilderness resort was well maintained and clean. There were six of us in March of 2004 (three adults, and three kids: 4, 6, and 12 yrs), the weather was perfect and the access to the parks was outstanding. We really enjoyed the outdoor movies, bonfire, and shows with Chip and Dale. The amenities of the resort included a heated pool, two shopping sights, rentals for bikes, canoes, and boats, The food supply at the trading posts were excellent. We spent as much time just playing around at the campground, playgrounds, beach, pony rides, and petting zoo. Watching the Magic Kingdom's fireworks from the beach is somehting we still talk about. Definitely will go back.

Great for couples too!
By ,
When I got sent to Orlando on a business trip, I was really dreading the whole Disney kid-centric atmosphere. I did some research on line and figured that at least in a cabin, there would be a little more privacy and quiet. The cabins at Fort Wilderness were great. Nice sized, BBQ on the deck, and they look just like the pictures on the website. The only drawback for us was that there was no bed larger than a full-sized to be found (in thier infinite profit-making wisdom Disney, inc. figures that they can cram up to 6 people in these cabins--they come standard with a full-sized Murphy bed in the living area and a double bed with a set of bunk beds in the bedroom). While this is not particulary condusive to a romantic getaway, we did find the facility to be very peaceful and quiet and felt safe enough to leave our windows open at night (the only drawback was that the armadillos thrashing in the underbrush woke us up a couple of times, but we found that amuseing, so no big deal:-). The whole facility was meticulously clean and mantained, transportation was varied (boat, bus, etc...) and abundant, and as a bonus the Hoop-de-doo review was terrific (just make sure you book ahead). If we ever find ourselves in Orlando again, I would not hesitate to stay here. BTW, I don't know where this facility gets thier coffee, but it was the best we've EVER had, and we are frequent travellers to Seattle!
