Excellent choice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/21/10
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The price might be slightly higher, but you get so much for the money. We got a one bedroom suite and loved it. The only down note about the room was the air conditioner made a lot of noise when it kicked on, but we were tired enough at night not to notice much. The service was polite and the breakfast was delicious. The bagels were fresh, the danish were sweet and the coffee was good. One reason I choose the hotel was the location. We walked to the White house and the Smithsonian museums. There are many attractions that you can walk to, or there are many buses and tours, but we took our time and enjoyed being out. The restaurants are plentiful and we never had a bad meal. While we avoided the restaurants that didn't list the prices on their menu (most restaurants have a menu outside) we did sample several and our most expensive meal were two pizzas at the Pizzeria Paradiso, but it was worth it. The pizzas were cooked in a fire baked oven with fresh mozzarella and cherry tomatoes and an excellent olive oil. If you have kids and want a regular pizza, there is a Papa John's near by too. We finished our stay by going the D.C. Improv Comedy theater. We were able to call from the hotel to get tickets and walked to the theater. The Improv opened at 7pm (the show didn't start until 8:30pm) and we got there right at seven and there was a line already. We took a cab back the hotel (our first and only time we didn't walk) and it cost all of $8. The Ride in was less that thrilling as we got there just in time for rush hour traffic and the GPS took us through many streets to get there. Later a map showed that Interstate 66 nearby and we used that to get back to Interstate 81 which took us back north. Even though the route might seem longer by miles, it saved us both time and stress.Coming in(off I66) just take the Francis Scott Key Bridge to M street and 30th Street is a few blocks to the right. The Road is blocked at the canal currently, but the entrance is right before the barriers. We do wish the hotel had a pool, especially after a hard day's walking, but we enjoyed the good pressure from the shower. I have stayed in many hotels that water pressure is measured by the drip. The room is very quite too. I never heard our neighbors except for the closing of the doors in the hallway. Everyday the towels were fresh and we barely used the full size kitchen. The full size refrigerator had an ice maker in the freezer. There is also plenty of storage space in the room. This was a special trip for us and we stayed several days. Having no stress related to the hotel during our stay help make the trip a pleasurable one. If you can spend a little more for your hotel, consider this one.

Pay in cash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/26/10
My husband stayed two nights at this hotel for an international conference. The company had made the reservation and paid for the room, but the hotel promptly cancelled the reservation and refunded the company their money. My husband provided a credit card until the company could provide the hotel with a check (payment for the room). The hotel then charged our credit card 3 separate times for over $2500.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I called to ask the manager what on earth could have happened, he denied that they had ever charged our card, and said my husband had a zero balance. Run, do not walk to any other hotel--but if you must stay here DON'T TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great deal!
By Pamela, 7/11/07
We enjoyed our stay. The suite was huge! Perfect for a family. The breakfast was great. We booked the package that included 2 circulator tix, and free parking. So, we left the car in the garage while we took the circulator bus everywhere. It was very convenient because it stops right near the hotel, and goes downtown. Will definitely stay here again!

Beware!!!!
By X, 5/23/07
This is the first time I have ever had a reservation (confirmed by the hotel itself via a PDF sent in an email) where they did not have a room for me when I arrived. I booked this hotel for a business meeeting through their 1800 number and showed up about 7pm to check in. They told me they didn't have a room for me and blatantly lied to me and told me that the meeting organizers had changed my reservation. Unbelievable!! Since the town was full there was no place for me to stay in town. What happened was that they overbooked and my room was gone befor I arrived. This hotel company has no honor or integrity. I have since learned that people have complained by things in their room stolen from the hotel. The staff absolutely does not care about you--they simply want to take your $ and belongings. Stay Away!!!

Great location -- big room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/14/07
I spent three nights here finding while apt. shopping. The location was two blocks from the Harbor and 1 block from great restaurants and all the M-Street activities. Underground parking (self-park in-and-out; they give you a card) added $20/night but felt secure. The room was great -- plush easy chair and a full sofa; big bathroom with double sinks. Newspaper delivered to room door every day including Sunday's Washington Post. Wireless internet included, faded out a couple times, but OK. Biz Center off lobby let you print-out. Self-serve continental breakfast included toaster waffles and French toast. Overall, a great place and quiet. I'd choose it again.
