Excellent choice

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The price might be slightly higher, but you get so much for the money. We got a one bedroom suite and loved it. The only down note about the room was the air conditioner made a lot of noise when it kicked on, but we were tired enough at night not to notice much. The service was polite and the breakfast was delicious. The bagels were fresh, the danish were sweet and the coffee was good.
One reason I choose the hotel was the location. We walked to the White house and the Smithsonian museums. There are many attractions that you can walk to, or there are many buses and tours, but we took our time and enjoyed being out. The restaurants are plentiful and we never had a bad meal. While we avoided the restaurants that didn't list the prices on their menu (most restaurants have a menu outside) we did sample several and our most expensive meal were two pizzas at the Pizzeria Paradiso, but it was worth it. The pizzas were cooked in a fire baked oven with fresh mozzarella and cherry tomatoes and an excellent olive oil. If you have kids and want a regular pizza, there is a Papa John's near by too.
We finished our stay by going the D.C. Improv Comedy theater. We were able to call from the hotel to get tickets and walked to the theater. The Improv opened at 7pm (the show didn't start until 8:30pm) and we got there right at seven and there was a line already. We took a cab back the hotel (our first and only time we didn't walk) and it cost all of $8.
The Ride in was less that thrilling as we got there just in time for rush hour traffic and the GPS took us through many streets to get there. Later a map showed that Interstate 66 nearby and we used that to get back to Interstate 81 which took us back north. Even though the route might seem longer by miles, it saved us both time and stress.Coming in(off I66) just take the Francis Scott Key Bridge to M street and 30th Street is a few blocks to the right. The Road is blocked at the canal currently, but the entrance is right before the barriers.
We do wish the hotel had a pool, especially after a hard day's walking, but we enjoyed the good pressure from the shower. I have stayed in many hotels that water pressure is measured by the drip. The room is very quite too. I never heard our neighbors except for the closing of the doors in the hallway. Everyday the towels were fresh and we barely used the full size kitchen. The full size refrigerator had an ice maker in the freezer. There is also plenty of storage space in the room.
This was a special trip for us and we stayed several days. Having no stress related to the hotel during our stay help make the trip a pleasurable one. If you can spend a little more for your hotel, consider this one.
