AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/15/08
I spent two weeks at this hilton in feb 2008 and was very dissapointed with the customer service. So much so that it dampened my stay there considerably. The few things I asked for, which were not that big or out of the ordinary, were like pulling teeth. The teenagers working at the front desk were unhelpful and made every small request seem like the biggest effort for them. The sign in the room said to call for a wired connection, and since my wireless wasn't working, I called. The man at the desk said, well you'll have to sign for a port. I said, ok... And he's like, are you sure you need one? His manner and reponses made me feel like I was bothering him so much. I wanted to switch rooms because mine was right by the elevator (and I was there for over 2 weeks so I wanted a good room) and it was like the hugest effort on their part. Each employee told me something different, and none of them had talked so I had to repeat my story each time. I called to speak with a manger, because at that point I was concerned I didn't even have a room. The manager was very short and rude with me, and never apologized for the hassle. She never said anything plesant at all actually, even after all the run around I got. One of the elevators broke in the hotel, and there were lines on each of the 10 floors to get up or down. We asked if we could take the stairs beacuse I had to be at work on time, and they said there was no staircase from the 2nd to 1st floor so we'd just have to wait. It turns out the only staircase is in the kitchen/restaurant area so they weren't letting guests use it, despite waiting 10 minutes or more for an elevator. I saw one housekeeping staff taking some guests to the stairs, yet two other employees refused to take the guests I was waiting with.
I will say the 2nd room I got was nice, and if you don't need a king bed, the corner suites are very spacious. My rooms were clean and housekeeping was good, and the room service was actually not too bad (don't order the salads, the lettuce was nasty but the sandwiches I got were very tasty)
The wake up calls I dialed in never once rang. Use your own alarm. My TV Broke and they didnt come for over an hour, so I left to eat dinner. Then when I called again they didn't show for another 45 minutes, and still couldn't fix the TV. They then had to bring two men in the room and just swapped it for the one in the living room, so there was a broken one in there. No one ever apologized or offered to fix it for the rest of the trip. I was so sick of dealing with them I just left it.
If I had to go back, I would have stayed at the Doubletree a block away. Same hilton points, and my co-workers that stayed there were very pleased. The only thing I could see that was better at the Hilton was the parking.
Just now I called them because I left a phone charger in the room. They transferred me to housekeeping and said they were closed but I could leave a message. Someone answered in housekeeping and said we're closed I can't help you. I told her I'd like to leave a message and she said "you can't do that just call back." like she was just so busy and I was annoying her. It's really not the biggest deal in the world but not good customer service that's for sure. Baron Hilton would cringe at everything that happened while I was there.
