Discovery Point Club, Grand Cayman

My wife, 8-year old son and I were at Discovery Point Club Unit #20 May 13-20. We have taken one special vacation every year for the past 13 years including trips to Anguilla, Barbados, St. Martin and Hawaii. The accommodations at DPC #20 were by far the finest we have ever had over that time. THE UNIT – #20 is a large unit overlooking the ocean [as all are at DPC]. It had a huge deck with a dining table, four chairs and two loungers. The deck was screened in, making it awesome to sit on after dinner or for lunch, dinner or breakfast and not worry about bugs. We could see all the way down the beach to Georgetown and all the way up to the North End of the island. The unit had a big living/dining area with comfortable sofas and an awesome 42” plasma/LCD TV. Accompanying the TV [which had an excellent HD-cable package including CBC and TSN for fellow Canadians] was an extensive movie collection including a great number of children’s titles. The kitchen was renovated last year and has up-to-date stainless steel appliances. There are loads of dishes, glasses and anything else you would have at your own home. The two large bedrooms had comfortable beds, ceiling fans and large plasma/LCD TVs in each of the bedrooms. We asked the management team to combine the two twin beds into a king and this was done before we arrived. The unit had two nicely equipped bathrooms with good-pressure showers and tubs that weren’t lacking hot water. y. Extra towels, soap, bathroom and facial tissue were under the sinks. The unit also had a washer/dryer with laundry detergent in a closet. We packed light and used these three times during our trip. There were a wide variety of beach toys in one of the closets... All in all, one word describes unit #20…wonderful! THE DISCOVERY POINT CLUB – Miss Ollie and AnnRose are the wonderful managers of this awesome place. daily basis to check up on my ailing father-in-law. They gave us restaurant suggestions on a daily basis. No question couldn’t be answered in a most pleasant manner. Nicole also kept our unit cleaned on a daily basis. DPC is located at the north end of Seven Mile Beach, just south of Cemetery Beach and West Bay. You are far enough from the cruise ship crowds to even realize they are there, but close enough to the restaurants and activities in West Bay and even Seven Mile Beach. The beach was sandy with plenty of beach huts, loungers and chairs. The entrance to the water was good thing for us as it meant there were hundreds of fish just steps into the water. If you wish, bring your own snorkeling equipment. I can’t swim but didn’t have to as the fish just swam around my ankles. Look for a soft sandy path into the water at the northern edge of the DPC beach. The clean and large pool was opened daily from 9am-10pm every day and it was kept very clean as well [noodles and pool beds also on-site]. . The DPC also had two tennis courts, and they had rackets and balls for guests to use. There was plenty of free on-site parking for those renting cars . THE AREA/ISLAND - As for food close by, there were the excellent but tiny Tim-Buc-Tuu, the excellent Duke’s and the on the water Heritage Kitchen, at the four-way stop in West Bay. Chef John, the best barbeque we had on the island, operates at the Public Beach just south of DPC Friday to Sunday. He’s a must try. As well, the Monday night all-you-can-eat feast at Macabuca [on the water a 10 minute drive north of DPC] is highly recommended. We had an amazing meal at Casanova-by-the-Sea, but it was not cheap. There is a Foster’s Food Fair IGA grocery store just north of the condo where you will find typical Canadian/American groceries. Opt for the fill up when you return the rental option. Take a drive to the East End to see the Blow Holes and Kaibo/Starfish Point. It’s another, more sedate world on the other side of the island. While over there, try Chester’s Fish Fry and Rankin’s Jerk Centre for affordable, fill-you-up local foods.

Beautiful beach. Near all activities but not crowded like the southern end of seven mile beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Unit was very spacious. Stayed in a third floor unit, nothing beats the view at sunset from the patio.

You cannot find a better place to stay in Cayman. I've been coming to this Island since 1977. Best place on 7 mile beach. Quiet, that is the best thing about it!

The people are very friendly. Miss Ollie and Anne Rose are very helpful. I would recomend Unit 11. I go there every year and we always go to unit 11. Bright and colorful furniture, it is very islandly. I would highly recomend it. Make sure you ask for unit 11 great place to stay!

The location of this palce was incredible, I never even saw a maid, I would just come back and my condo was spotless. My trip was a college graduation present and have had the best memories, my children can't wait to go. 5 stars for the entire experience!!

I will never stay in a hotel again. Why get a room with only a bed and a crowded beach where you have to tip for a chair when you can get an ocean front suite with a full well equipped kitchen, a screened deck, and a pristine beach at the quiet North end of Seven Mile Beach. All units are beach front with spectacular West views of Caribbean sunsets. We stayed in #46 a top floor corner end with a panoramic view from George Town to West Bay. It is equipped with two LED HD TVs, DVD�s, WiFi, and a washer/dryer. Great restaurants are numerous but being able to fix a snack or breakfast is relaxing and economical. I�ll be back to Discovery Point Club.

Had a great family vacation recently. Really nice affordable find in the Cayman Islands. Very clean units, well furnished. Beach was beautiful, staff was very helpful and it had all the amenities you would expect at a much more expensive resort.
