It's Just another week in Paradise
By ,
Great times! Wonderful GOs, amazing location and as usually great experience. This is our 7th visit to a CM resort, and as always we ask ourselves why we even bother to try other things. Last year we tried an all exclusive vacation in Mexico, which was great but can’t even be compared to any of our vacations at CM. The multi culture mix of GOs generates a unique environment, the music, sports and dancing is what makes it so special for us. If you go with kids, CM Punta Cana offers the best vacation. It’s like being with the kids and without them. Our 8 year daughter and 4 year son did not even want to come with us to any activity; they asked to go to the kids club. Language is a problem and we were lucky to have other English speaking kids, otherwise this could be an issue. The Kids club GO’s are amazing, they work very hard and connects with the kids. They do lots of activities and give the kids great time. We read some of the comments before we left which made us a little bit concern, especially after our last visit to CM Ixtapa, which was great and set high expectations. But, Punta Cana came out great at the same level. Each club has its unique touch and in Punta Cana you get the Caribbean and Dominican Republic atmosphere. We highly recommend visiting CM Punta Cana!

Great, with a catch
By ,
The place had a wonderful atmosphere and the facilities were extremely well kept. However, management was extremely rude and unfriendly. Both my room and my friend's room were robbed of items both in the safe an not in the safe. The cleaning lady went through everything, and management did not handle our complaint well. Due to the fact that there were many other kids there, and many activities to do (including windsurfing, kayaking, basketball, sailing, soccer, football, trapeze), it was a wonderful vacation for my kids. The shows every night were delightful. All in all, the trip was very good, but just make sure that you keep track of all of your valuables, cause if you don't they soon won't be yours anymore

nice family vacation
By ,
This was our first time to Punta Cana and we had a really nice time. The food was terrific and the facilities and beach were first rate. The kids club was out of this world and is clearly a focus of the resort. There are only two criticisms that I do have. First, the service can be inconsistent. In a general sense the staff is good at delivering the Club Med product. However if something requires individual attention or personal initiative on behalf of the GO's there can be problems. For example, the electronic lock on our room was malfunctioning and we were locked out of our room 4 times in the first 24 hours. Each time there were promises to fix it immediately but it was not until I blew up that they finally took action. We had similar issues with the TVs in the room where we had to ask three times before any action was taken. The second is that everything is on European time which can be an issue if you have small children. Dinner is from 7-10pm. My son, is typically in bed by 7:30 at home, was falling asleep at the table most nights. Some of the other kids activities at night don't start until 8:30pm. If they could have one restaurant open at 6pm it would have made a big difference for us.

Club Med, a Great experience
By ,
This was my second time on a Club Med vacation, although 20 years apart. I loved both my times at Club Med. This time I traveled with my husband and 2 kids (11 & 13). The food is buffet style and very good. Each night it was different so we never tired of the variety. There is everything from fish, turkish lamb, pasta to hamburgers and hot dogs. It is a very french resort, probably 75%, but it wasn't a problem. All the GO's were able to communicate in several languages. The only problem we had with language was sometimes understanding the MC for the evening show through his strong accent. We just took it as adding a little culture to our vacation. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We stayed in a deluxe suite which I would recommend. It is the middle range option and the location of these rooms are very central. I had read on one of the reviews to ask for a room by the pool and that was very good advice. The resort is very long and it could be a very long walk to your room. The pool is centrallly located and very convenient. Our kids did not try the ramp group but I heard only good things. The smaller kids clubs looked organized and the GO's looked enthusiastic but I don't think I could leave my young child with strangers. The sports were great. We did windsurfing, sailing, snorkling, trapeze (you have to try it), bocce ball, and kayaking. I was a little dissapointed in the snorkling. They offered off of the beach which was free but if you wanted to go out to the reef you had to go by boat which was an excursion. It was windy so the snorkling was closed every day from the beach due to the current. We had no choice but to take the excursion which was OK. I'm a little spoiled because the other Club Med (Turks and Caicos) I went to offered snorkling from the boat included for free and the reef was much better. That is the only thing that was better about Turks than Punta Cana. I didn't get to go to the nightclubs at night but it sounded like fun. They have photographers taking photos all week which are good but a little expensive. They will even take family photos by appointment but you have to buy the CD. In that case it is worth the $180 price because you could get 200-300 photos but we were not prepared clothes-wise. I would have brought more of our clothes matching for a photo. Also each night has a dress theme, ex. elegant white, elegant black. You'll be safe if you bring lots of white, some black and color. This is all optional but some people do dress up a lot. Men usually where a collared shirt to dinner. All and all this was a great club and great vacation and would love to go back. Excursions: We did 3 excursions and my son and husband played golf. We did the deep sea fishing, well worth it, snorkling was OK and we went to the Wild Ranch, what a blast. It was about $170 per person for the day but you got a lot for the money. We ziplined through the jungle and not just a quick trip. It was a good 1-2 hours long. We drove small dune buggys (boogie cars). What fun !!! And we kayaked. They served a snack and lunch which was very good. You also got to interact with some of the Dominican people who were very nice. The ranch is on a nature preserve and it has many animals also. This was an all day excursion from 8-6.

Great resort what you expect with Club Med
By ,
Just returned from a week at Club Med Punta Cana with my family, which consisted of 2 children 9 (M) and 12 (F), my 2 sister in laws and their famlies children 8 (F), 12 (M), 12 (F), 16 (M). The resort is gorgeous and the rooms were nice. We stayed in the family suite and the layout was great. The rooms had recently been renivated but it looked like just some new paint. Some family members had problems with a refrigerator and one rooms AC was not up to 100%. Overall we were happy with the rooms and service. July and August are about 90% French guest so the resort is geared toward the French. Most of the staff spoke good English but it did get challenging at times trying to speak with some staff. If you speak some Spanish you will not have any problems. The water sports and beach were fantastic and the staff were great with the kids teaching them to wind surf, by the end of the week they all started to get the hang of it. They all loved the trapezze and enjoyed learning something new. The kids did not do much of the clubs but they looked well organized but with the resort 90% French your American child might feel out of place or have trouble communicating with the other children. The food was very good, but it is buffet style. They do a very good job of providing a wide variety of food but after a week we were getting tired of the same thing. My kids and one of my sister in laws got sick for 24hrs with a stomach thing, vomiting and diahrea. Talking with people on the return flight it sounds like a lagre number of people got this stomach thing also at their resorts. We drank bottled water but just be preparred to deal with it if it happens. Overall we had a great time and the kids had plenty to do. We loved Punta Cana maybe next time we would try a different resort with more dinning options, but for a familt vacation Club Med was great. They were going to be closing in two weeks for several months to renivate most of the resort so I would be intersted to see who it looks after they get done. According to the staff Nov - Jan is more of an American crowd with about 50% of the resort American and the other 50% European. If this is your first trip and want to know what to expect out of your resort I would highly recommend going with Club Med.

Amazing vacation!!
By ,
Hi, I am 14 years years old and I went to Punta Cana during spring break, and it was the best!!! This was my very first Club med vacation, and I wish to come back here every year!! They have an amazing facility including beches, a large pool, basketball courts, a ramp for skateboarding, volleyball court, archery, and ,any water activities like kyaking. I also met so many other teenagers there too, and made friends with them. If you are a teenager, make sure you go to "The Ramp". This teenage group does so many activities and the counselors are also very fun. Overall, this place is the best and I highly recommend every one to go there. By the way, if you are going to Club Med, make sure you practice your French, because there are so many French people there!!!!!

This was our first Club Med vaca. We just came back 3 days ago and can't stop thinking about it. weather, food, service,GO's A+. You can do as much or as little as you like. Sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling, scuba is all at your fingertips except from 12-2 (thats when they shut down for lunch; except for the miniclub. Kids (9&11) had a great time in the miniclub. GO's were top shelf with them. Kept them busy all day. Didn't see them until about 5:30 everyday and then wanted to go back after dinner. Great variety of food:something for everyone, each night different theme (both rest. are buffet style). Don't pack alot, wont need:very casual unless you like to dress up. Don't expect many English speaking guests. Mostly French, however, all the staff and GO;s speak English and many other languages. The rooms are adequate. A little warm but you don't spend much time in there anyway. Would go back in a heartbeat.

My wife and I had always heard about how good the Club Med experience was so we booked and went in April. As you exit the plane in the airport, you have to buy a ten dollar visitors pass to the Dominican Republic. The place itself was beautiful. The rooms were kept nicely and the groundskeepers were working every day to make sure the place looked beautiful. We did not realize 80% of the visitors were families so there were quite a few children. The facility provided much for them to do which was a plus. Another thing we did not know was about half the quests were from France. Karaoke in French was different. The quests were friendly as was the staff. The restaurants were both buffet style, no sit down at all. The bars were nice. If you were at the beach or the pool, you had to go to the bar yourself because they do not have any wait staff. Overall, it was a good vacation but for a married couple of over 25 years, we were looking for something a little different.

Even a third time!
By ,
We are going back to Club Med Punta Cana for the third time at the end of the month. It is our third trip in 3 years. Club Med Punta Cana is not a USA 5 star hotel. You are in the Caribbean with all of the slight blemishes that go along with it. It is also part of the charm. This is a beautiful resort with great GO's everywhere. Your kids will venture out and have a blast, and the adults can do activities all day long or simply chill. The gift shop is simply that, and not a Walgreens. You will encounter people from around the world. If all you want to do is speak to Americans and stay at a posh hotel, go to Miami. We love meeting people from around the world that it takes an effort to communicate with if at all. That's what makes it fun. The tennis is worth your time, and you can sign up for the ATP lessons for additional charge if you want, but you get plenty of free drills and fun playing opportunities. We had an international match where my partner was French, against a team that had another American and a French Canadian. The kids absolutely love this place. The GO's do a great job of looking after the kids without keeping them on a leash. As far as the beach and the pool, it is always fun when new groups arrive and get up at 7:00am to put out towels on lounges before they realize that there are plenty to go around even when the resort is full. We have been here twice and are looking forward to going back.
