Not Great, Not Horrible
By ,
I stayed at the Dolphin Inn during Memorial Day Weekend and was surprised in a good way because I had read all the bad reviews online. It's not as bad as the reviews say. The room was pretty clean, the carpet had stains on it and the floor didn't look very clean in the bathroom but the room the well stocked and the view was fantastic from the 10th floor. The pool on the 8th floor is kind of cool and you get a great view there as well. The room is huge compared to other hotels and there is a lot of room to spread out. It's kind of like a timeshare by some budget hotel so don't expect the Hyatt. The area isn't the greatest and my car was broken into and several things stolen while in the parking garage. So be sure to lock up and take anything...tools, cd's, with you at all times. The people at the front desk have no idea what they are doing. They couldn't find my reservation and I had to wait almost 30 min after driving 5 hours after work for them to work it out at 2am in the morning. It's a good hotel to stay if you have no other choices. I suggest researching well before and if no one else if open then try the dolphin inn hotel.

I love Dolphin Inn
By ,
EXCELLENT! Arrived and checked in early. Rooms were spotless. Average size motel rooms. Sofa and beds very comfortable. Huge Jacuzzi but couldn't use it in the morning as there was no hot water. Maintence immediately checked and said all water had been used so I had to wait. The first night the wind howled under the door keeping me awake, next night I put spare blanket down blocking it. There was contact paper over the window from the bathroom to LR. Very Large thick towels, nice toiletries. Could not get on their wireless internet though, signal to weak. Would we go back? Already planning too in the spring! I would highly recommend it! Parking lot is very tight and if hotel is full parking is difficult. In the summer I would park and use trolley but it doesn't run in off season.

Were they for real
By ,
It's a 12 hr drive from home, when we got there we were tired and hungry so maybe my mood wasn't the best. Six people in all and the age was between 58 and 2. First exhausting night the toilet over flowed, call down stairs and my hero showed up with a plunger and thrust it in my face and said here ya go.Wasn't in the mood so i called the manager. They sent some-one else up to fix the problem and they worked on it for awhile and deemed it perfect. I said will you flush it again and guess what we were flooded again. About two in the morning they finally fixed the problem and all i wanted to do was go home, but they cleaned it up we ended up enjoying our stay and beacuse they didn't charge us for our first night we stayed an extra day. They are just an average motel with average rooms but they are ok and the price is right and the ocean is in your back yard.Next time I go back I don't think I will be staying there again which makes me sad because I really like the place many years ago.

Dolphin Inn is the place to be
By ,
Great friendly staff. The parking was an issue but if you want a place where you are paying for the room and not the fancy lobby, this is the place to be. Two room suite with pull-out sofa. Sleeps 6 easily with the two beds in the room and the balcony overlooks the great Virginia Beach. I stayed during peak season for 5 weeks and loved it. The refrigerator broke and they replaced it with a better one almost immediately. The in-room safe broke and it was replaced before I came home that day. I looked at other hotels like Ramada and Atlantic Sands so my expectations were not high to begin with, but the definitely exceeded my expectations. Ofcourse, one cannot be without the free internet hook-up which they also offer. Would stay here again

Will never return to the Dolphin
By ,
We stayed at this hotel July 3, 4, and 5th 2007. Upon reading the website stating it was "newly renovated", we figured we couldn't go wrong. Due to this stay, we will only stay at chain hotels from now on. We were assigned room 704. We arrived at our room (without assistance for carrying luggage) only to find the housekeeping staff still cleaning. They left (without finishing), and we entered. The room was nothing like that in the internet ad. The floor was missing tile, the floor in the bathroom had loose grout that stuck to our feet as we walked in it. The jacuzzi tub had black stains on the bottom of it. The carpeting in the living room area was damp upon arrival and we were afraid to walk without shoes. The entire room smelled of mold and the ceiling was cracked with water marks. The only positive thing about this room was the kictchen area. It was newer and nice--however the refridgerator had a dent in it which looked like someone kicked it. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the toilet never flushed properly, and the couch had stains and we were afraid to sit on it. On July 5th the elevator broke down and did not begin operating again until after 7PM on this evening. The parking was disasterous and someone hit my car (not the hotel's responsibility). Upon leaving, I complained to Management regarding the conditions and they credited one nights stay. However, when I arrived home, I noticed they charged an additional $100 to my credit card for incidentals. They claimed 3 pillows and an alarm clock was missing from the room. I am still waiting to hear back from management regarding this. I would not pay $330 a night for a room and still a foam pillow. The alarm clock (which also didn't work) was sitting on the bottom area of the nightstand. Needless to say---the website stating this is newly renovated is inaccurate and we will not grace this hotel with our presence again.

Good stay & good value.
By ,
Not the fanciest place to stay at, but not the worst. The room we stayed at was a suite, well-equipped, and clean. For the price, I was pleased with it. The pool is on a top level, so you get a magnificent view of the whole area.

Rooms on the beach & that's it
By ,
All rooms have beautiful views but the hotel offers nothing else. No lobby, concierge, or much else. Rooms need updating but they were in the process of updating them I believe.

I will never stay here again!!!
By ,
From the minute we arrived it has been just horrible. They started to remodle the bathrooms so we had to move, they moved us right below where they were jackhammering all day, then they moved us again, did I mention I am 7 months pregnant, and we were staying here while my husband finished his school at Oceana Base, so we were suppose to be staying here for a few months, then there were several times that they went into our account without our permission and took money. Once on Christmas Eve, so it was days before it was put back into our account. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Dolphin Inn
By ,
I loved the Jacuzzi tub and the large rooms. It was clean and quiet and comfortable. My wife and I have stayed at a number of hotels in Virginia Beach. This was the best value we have found. We are already planning our next visit. The entrance to the pool is outside and that was a bit uncomfortable. The pool was small but the view was great. Parking in the garage was tight. Overall I think this is a good value!

It was good
By ,
My son and I had a fun 3 day experience at Virginia Beach. The rooms were spacious, and the view was awesome. We were on the 11th floor. The location was perfect. I would definately visit the Dolphin Inn again. :-)
