Your in State College, not a fancy city. This is one of the best here!

I lived in State College for several years. This is one of the best, State College has to offer. Why is it a little pricey, because there are a lot of motels and old dusty hotels around here that you would not enjoy staying at... so its much superior to them in that respect. However, compared to modern cities, you might feel less than thrilled to stay here. My mother is a tough critic on hotels and she always loved staying here. She is not a football enthusiast, but she drives out to PennState to go just to the Atherton Hotel Resturant. The Resturant is very gourmet and very well staffed. I think some students from PSU's Hotel Management program get hired here, and WOW do they aim to treat you like royalty. Very nice wait staff here. Maybe if you are in town you should check out the resturant and then decide if you want to stay the night. Around football season and graduation, it would be smart to book rooms weeks or months in advance. I think summer is slwer and cheaper, except around Arts Festival in July.
