Things You Need to Know

Service: The front desk is very helpful. The shuttle only goes to the airport- not the strip. Taxis to the strip is about $8.70 (to Stratosphere), so with a tip $10.00. We needed late check-out for our evening flight and they obliged.
Cleanliness: The suite was exceptionally clean upon arrival, however even though I left $5 tip each morning for housekeeping, they only made the beds and changed the towels. The sink was wiped out with something also. The mirrors were never cleaned, the carpet was never swept, the coffee was never replaced. The beds are comfortable. The TV doesn't move so if you have two double beds, as we did, it's hard to see the TV from one of the beds. The bathroom is small.
Location: If you leave the hotel on foot and go left out the front door, there is a small shopping center and a couple of restaurants. The wine and cigar store also has some beer. Fireflys is a good place to eat. If you keep traveling that direction, there is Terrible's Casino and Hofbrauhaus. If you leave the hotel on foot and go right there is a 7-Eleven for those other things you want. Sometimes the taxis take awhile to arrive to pick you up, especially in the evening. Call well ahead of showtime. Returning from shows is a miserable time. You usually wait in taxi lines that can be quite long to get back to the hotel. If I stay here again after flying in, I will get a rental car. If you are on the strip you can catch The Deuce (a double decker bus) for $2 one-way or $5 all day. It is slow going but saves your feet. The drivers are very helpful with connections to where you want to go. Exact change is required.
Value: We used Marriott comps. I love Marriott hotels but will save my comps for elsewhere. With all the taxi and bus fares (or rental car next time) it's not worth it.
Smoking in Vegas: This is a non-smoking hotel. Vegas is going non-smoking. The only place you can smoke is on the casino floor and outside anywhere. MGM is non-smoking as well as all other Marriotts everywhere. If you choose to stay elsewhere because you smoke, check with that hotel directly. The airport and restaurants are all non-smoking. Only cigar bars and actual casinos are exempt.
Free Continental Breakfast: This is well done. You will enjoy it and it will get you through a large part of a day in Vegas. The 24-hour coffee they boast runs out, as does the hot water for tea. The front desk will make more. Just let them know. There are a couple of flat screens in the breakfast room. They also sell snacks in the lobby if you want a late night ice cream or pizza or a variety of drinks or chips or candy bars. There is also ice and soda machines on every floor.
Pool: The pool and hot tub are nice. Towels are in place for you. The Fitness Center is very cool so you can work out hard! They keep several magazines in the Fitness Center if you need something to read by the pool--just put them back for others. You can take your breakfast outside if you like and eat by the pool.
