I own a timeshare there
By jeffrey, 9/21/10
I bought there when it was ran by Raddison, who apparently sold out. Anyway, they have recently hit the owners up for SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS, which are usually reserved for hurricane or like event damage, not with this bunch, they wanted more money so they hit us up. I own on "odd" years, meaning I pay maintenance and taxes on odd years, someone else pays on even years. Well, not so fast, with this new bunch everyone pays every year, not half, they billed me for the full maintenance fees though I cannot use the resort until the next odd year. When I did not pay, they turned it over to collections. The State of Florida seems to have had its timeshare laws written by the timeshare industry, it does not cover this type of report in any way and no one can see "outside the box" that odd years are just that, odd years. Anyway, try to avoid this place and definitely DO NOT buy there unless you have LOTS of money to throw away.

Absolutely Awesome!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/10
We just returned from a 10 day stay at the resort. After reading many negative posts prior to our vacation @ the resort we thought we had made a HUGE mistake! Nothing could have been further from the truth. The staff was most couteous and helpful. The night Manager Anthony was delightful and most helpful. The resturarant "The Islander" was an excellent choice...a very good menu selection plus a kids menu. Each night a "special" was offered at a very very reasonable price. The special nightly choices for example were prime rib, surf and turf, 1-1/4 lb.lobster usually offered @ around $19.99. LIve Music to dine by. Kareoke a couple of nights a week is offered, lots to do for younger kids. A nice gift shop that has everything from beach toys to jewelry to personal needs. Beautiful common area to relax and people watch. Absolutely immaculate. The mirrors and doors in the elevators were cleaned muliple times daily. The tikki bar area was a hit around the pool. Great "live" iland music to enjoy by the pool as well. There always seemed to be plenty of lounge chairs to go around. We didn't see anyone fussing over chairs as previously posted! The complimentary pool and beach towels was great. You pick them up on the way to the beach and deposit them after you return, can shower the sand off and ask for a clean towel to dry off with...how nice! You do have to rent the lounge chairs and umbrellas @ the beach for $25 a day each, ALTHO, you may take your own chairs and umbrellas and strategically place them!!! It won't take but a second to figure it out! Take your own stuff and save some $$$$! As far as our room went, fresh towels daily, if we hadn't made the bed it would have been made for us. Fresh dish towels daily and garbage removal as well. We had a one bedroom with an island view from the balcony....very nice. One washer and dryer per floor. We did laundry every day and had no problems using the w/d. Laundry area was kept very clean. The grounds are beautiful as well....well manicured and palm trees everywhere...a real PLUS coming from Illiniois! Our stay at this resort was a great experience and we will make a return visit! Now a little bit about the immediate area... there is a Wings Store (everything you need to reach the beach) a block down the street. As cheap as Walmart for beach stuff. In fact don't even go to Walmart for anything for the beach..they don't have it...A LOUSY WALMART!! We bought a beach cart @Wings cheaper than I found them online and the manager assembled for me! Of course they sell tons of t-shirts, beach towels, flip flops etc....neat store! Johnny Longboats Resturant across the street good too, great music comes from there late into the night! Crab topped zucchinni to die for!! I wanted to have the oil changed before we started the long trip back to Illinois and didn't want to go to the BAD Walmart and spotted a full service gas station (a block from the resort) with a mechanic on duty. They did oil changes, etc. Great place! Turned out to be a re-located father/son team from Iowa. Son has been in business down there 6 or so years and dad moved there to help him out! Always good to know if you have those kinds of needs. Nice people. If you go over the Blue Heron Bridge best to keep windows rolled up and doors locked. Don't travel at night over the bridge we were told to be on the safe side. Palm Beach Shores itself is a very safe place patrolled by it's own police force. If you don't belong there you are asked to leave. The resort itself is quite safe. Very well lit and someone out front at all times day and all night. Have a Great Vacation at Palm Beach Shores Resort!!!

Loved It
By gwylenn, 6/14/10
I can't believe how negative the reviews are! I have vacationed here 4 times with my kids and it is by far their favorite vacation spot. There are constant activities around the resort for kids, Clematis Street is fantastic, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. If you ask anyone at the desks for suggestions they always give you their opinion and usually ask someone else working to share their opinion as well so you aren't only going off one person. There hasn't been a single thing they have recommended that I was not pleased with. I have never asked for a suggestion and received the answer "I don't know". They go out of their way to figure it out for you if they are unsure. I also like that if you ask for directions they have pages with the most populare destinations printed off with return directions on the back. I agree the $7/day parking is ridiculous but it is for valet. You are not suppose to tip since your daily fee covers that (I asked at the desk). Yes they do ask you to buy a timeshare and try to get you to sign up for a tour by offering a free meal and an extra $75 as an incentive for your time when you get your parking permit but after that they don't bother you. We have never received a call to our room asking us to take a tour and have stayed there several times. They do slip a paper under your door everyday BUT if people took the time to read them they would discover that only one of them is regarding a sales pitch. The others are about discounts in the restaurant and upcoming events. The furniture is outdated but still comfortable. Every unit DOES have an oven. It is a convection oven that doubles as a microwave. If you don't know how to use it I am sure someone would help you as the staff is extremely friendly. However, it is not the fault of the staff if someone is unfamiliar with the equipment and doesn't ask how to properly use it. There is only one washer and drier on each floor but who does laundry on vacation? Towels are provided near the pool so you don't have to worry about bringing sand back to the room after laying out and also greatly reduce the amount of laundry necessary on your return since you don't have to worry about beach towels. The ocean view rooms are given to owners first which is understandable. However, all the 2-bedroom units face the ocean so as long a you get one of them you are guaranteed the view you want. Also, I was shocked to see people saying there was nothing for kids. The large variety of activities is one of the reasons we keep returning. They have approximately 3 activities planned each day for kids and rarely duplicate activies through the week....painting shells, making koozies, watching movies, decorating shirts, making picture frames, snowcones, etc. Most activities are free but a few of them do cost $1. It would cost more than that to buy the supplies for the crafts and it helps break the day up so in my opinion it is well worth the price. Plus on kids' movie night, for $5 they provide pizza and babysit your kids for 2 hours! Having adult time one night of the week when you know the kids are safe is a huge benefit you don't find at many resorts.

Wow! I didn't want to leave!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/7/09
Please don't listen to the reviews that give this place a negative name. This resort is outstanding! I just got back home this afternoon and didn't want to leave the rooms are just as you see them online (beautiful). Yes there is a fee for parking and also a dollar a day fee for the safe, but we found their services outstanding. The parking fee is for valet parking at your call and who doesn't need a little secure place to keep your $$$$ while out on the beach! The pool was nice and the staff ever so friendly. We went to the beach every morning, every day was perfect. I would suggest renting a car if you want to venture out on your own to Ft. Lauderdale/Miami but everything at this resort is as I said before Outstanding! Tikki Bar a must and the on site resturant was exceptional with very reasonable prices. Also there are different activities going on every day. Oh most important for us women is the on site spa...you will never have to leave the resort. I was presently surprised when I got to the resort. I can't say I dislike a thing. Also don't let anyone tell you that the resort will keep contacting you to listen to their timeshare pitch because it's not true. They contacted us twice via a note under the door and a phone message, when you didn't respond they never contacted us again. No hassles....please take the time to enjoy this wonderful hidden treasure! :)

Loved it...would stay there again
By Heather, 5/19/09
The hotel was beautiful! We were told that it was recently renovated this past fall and it looked wonderful. The room was great, the staff very friendly and helpful, the pool area was very nice. Only people staying at the resort are allowed on the beach in front of it. One of the few timeshare resorts that has a resaurant and it came in very handy a couple of nights. The area the hotel is in is quiet and charming. We walked a couple of blocks to the Sailfish Marina to have dinner. The setting was beautiful, although the food was mediocre. The only drawback to the resort is the 6.00 a day parking fee. Will definitely stay again if I have the chance.

SUCKS
By Shirley Jest, 3/5/09
I have not had a vacation in years (because I could not afford one). So I save and scraped and cut corners just so I culd have one. Well I tell you I have nothing nice to say. Anywhere that charge thier guest to use the parking lot.... well. I know times are hard and customers can be a pain in the you know where, but don't let us feel like we are unwanted guests or free loaders. My mom says "if you have nothing nice to say about something dont say anything" I have NOTHING to say about this place. Get my drift!!

Bought a Time Share Here
By Ed, 11/20/08
Enjoyed our stay very much. So much so that we bought a time share. Our suite was very clean and neat, and a problem we had with a closet door was repaired right away. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and you can't beat the location on Singer Island. The resort is older, but they are renovating to modernize the facility. I would not hesitate to recommend Palm Beach Shores Resort to any of my family or friends.

Terrible.
By Jackie girl, 9/10/08
Our 3rd time there. 1st two pretty good. I don't know if they have changed hands or what but it has gone way down hill. Ants in the unit, the unit was dirty, the a/c didn't work right, had to be worked on twice, left with wet carpet and huge fan on for days and condensation running down the walls. Patio door had no seal so hot air streaming in, when reported they just shrugged, one guy said both situations were "normal". Cabinet door off hinges, toilet seat ready to fall off, parking is a joke, satellite TV kept going off; loud, drunken, foul mouthed people in the pool spilling liquor in it. Pool was dirty and had mold around it. No maintenance elevators so workers were on the few they have with huge carts and hampers during the busy Saturday check in time and it takes forever for elevaotrs to get to your floor. Why didn't I asked to be moved? I don't think any of the rest of them would have been much better but believe me, in the future I will inspect every unit I check into before I accept it. I exchanged from a gold crown resort(through RCI) and this is in the book as a gold crown resort. What a joke. What did I like about it? NOTHING. Won't go there again. Wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.
