Spanish Bay Reef Resort All-Inclusive, North Side

We have visited Spanish Bay Reef Resort for the last 10 years, and LOVE the place. It is not a 5 Star type hotel (you are not paying those prices!), but what it lacks in the way of luxury is more than made up for by the fantastic staff who really do treat you as a person, not a room number. Food is adequate, nothing fancy, facilties good (especially for divers- the reef is great!). Cannot wait to return again this winter.......sadly we missed out on our April holiday at the resort this year due to Ivan damage; we hear it opens again in November 2005?

I have been to SBR 12 times and return twice a year in June and December. This is a wonderful property with excellent service. A Small hotel on the north west point of the island. By the end of your trip you will meet 4-5 couples at the bar. You will see regulars every time you are there. I have not heard many reports since IVAN tore through the island but understand that they plan to reopen in May or June. The resort is not elaborate, but if you are looking for a personal vacation with nice people, this is your location.

We chose this excursion while cruising Royal Carribean on a stop in Grand Cayman. Though the cruise line reminded us that Ivan had taken a toll on many of the island resorts we took a chance, and were more than satisfied. The setting is outstanding, the staff was fantastic, and the food was well prepared and plentiful. Its a location we both cant wait to visit again. A must if you have an opportunity.

Spanish bay reef is a wonderful friendly small hotel in a fabulous setting where you can relax under the palm trees and receive excellent service and food and drink from the friendly staff.we have returned many times and will do far more in the future it is a holiday to look forward to from one visit to the next

Another reviewer panned this place for having shabby rooms--yes, the rooms are simple, but certainly adequate, particularly given the price. And yes, the location is off the beaten path but this also means the opportunity to take nice walks on a quiet road and meet the very friendly people. Spend some more money and stay on 7 mile beach (at the sister property, Beach Colony) if you have to be in the thick of things. During the day, there is frequent local bus service, and frankly, I wasn't that impressed with the downtown area to even bother to go in to shop more than once. The hotel also does offer a van service during the day, but they do ask you to make arrangements in advance. What you will find here is seafront location, with very nice people and excellent, pletiful all-inclusive food and drinks. This resort is a little stripped down, but it's not Sandals priced, either, and the value for money was excellent. We weren't diving, but it looks as though the boat and snorkeling equipment was free for guests. WE tried the place out for a little romance and R&R and it suited our purposes just fine. Evening dinners were nicely done poolside with service, tablecloths, candles and very nice food. Breakfasts were plentiful and tasty, and lunches were just fantastic. Everybody at the resort from the desk to the grill to the bar to the maids were sweet, helpful and charming. The assistant manager made herself known to us. This was a fun place and I'd love to go back.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and loved it! The people were great and so nice. It was peaceful, it's away from the downtown noise and the cruise ships.

Have stayed here twice thus far. As for the all inclusive, it is worth it. Great food every day. The help there were very nice to deal with, and made you feel at home. I recommend renting your own vehicle, even though they have bikes, and shared jeeps. You are off the beaten path, so you don`t really have to deal with all the hustle-bustle of the cruise ship visitors. It has a nice dive shop and the people there were also very helpful. The only drawback was that although they have unlimited shore diving, it sure does get windy, and the waves pick up on that side of the island. All in all the rooms are clean, and they try their best to please. Looking forward to my next trip there!
