Spanish Bay Reef Resort All-Inclusive, North Side

For a dive vacation it was awesome. The shore dives were great. I also remember the all-inclusive food, drinks and simple entertainment being great for the money. Now, don't expect to be in some 5 star resort. The rooms are a bit dated (and nothing fancy), but if you want to have great time in a simple place, this place rocks.

The staff and food were great. The dive trips were perfect and very informative. I would definetly go back. The location is slightly out of the way but very peaceful. Not much beach but the pool is lovely. It is about a ten minute drive to 7 Mile Beach which is long flat and very clean. The water is calm everywhere.

The staff was very friendly and food was great. The room was clean and comfortable. It is off the beaten path, quiet and away from the cruise ship crowd with hammocks to spend the afternoon in with a good book. You can dive and snorkel right off their property with expert staff in the dive shop. We can't wait to go back!

My husband and I just returned from spanish bay reef. We really enjoyed the resort; scuba and snorkeling, relaxing at the beach and poolside at the bar, and great meals prepared by the staff. There's lots to see underwater without going too far from shore. The scuba and snorkel equipment was average, but very organized and always available. The area is very quiet and romantic, close to turtle farm and biking paths. Locals are VERY friendly. When you look even the least bit lost, they will go out of their way to assist you. We had a great time and will return sometime next year.

This place reminded me of an upscale camp. Not that that is necessarily bad, just know what you are getting. The spot is great if you like to be isolated, except when the wind picks up. Even in the wind it was nice to be pool side, but the waves were so high there was no ocean-going. This is a less populated side of the island and now I know why, because of the wind. But, seven mile beach is very close by--half hour by bicycle. And, the water there was always calm. Having the sister resort there was very nice as lounge chairs and drinks are provided there. The food was edible, not gourmet although there were a few standouts, like the jerk pork and pasta bar made to order. It was very heavy on the red meats, not so much island fish as I was expecting. My bathroom was a bit gross. But, I have often experienced similar musty smelling bathrooms in the Caribbean. Also, note that when the cruise ships come in, most weekdays, the resort offers a tour and large groups of cruisers inandate the place between the hours of 10:00 and 1:00. Plan to eat lunch late or you will be in a long line of cruisers!

we loved everything about it, the attentivness,relaxed atmosphere,the value,the way they always try to please the guest, and the food was very good.

Our first impression when we arrived was questionable. After about two or three hours at the property I knew we made a good decision. The rooms are very clean, the food is very good and the staff is the best part. They make you feel like family. We have never felt so comfortable anywhere. It truly makes you not want to leave and makes you want to return as soon as possible. There is not one single negative thing I could say about our stay and I would not consider staying anywhere else. Loved it and will be back.

This place is fantastic for people who want a quiet place with outstanding scuba diving and snorkling. The rooms are clean and the (all inclusive) meals are tasty but not gourmet. It has a nice little beach and a fine pool. In general, It's a very good value. There is no nightlife in the immediate area and there are no activities other than swimming and lounging at the pool or diving the reefs and walls.

There was nothing we didn't like. Our room was spacious and clean, the service and food were excellent, the staff was friendly, and the diving was terrific. Not the place to go for nightlife, but then, that's not what we were looking for.

We have been staying at the resort two or three times a year for the last 4 years. If you want hustle and bustle go somewhere on Seven Mile Beach but SBR (as we know it) is simply terrific for shore diving off the dock and gently chilling. The staff are FANTASTIC and all guests are made to feel very welcome an not a burden as can happen in other parts of the island or Carribean generally. The food is good but not fancy. You only neeed to look at how many times people return to SBR to see that it has something special, we feel like one of the family now and can't wait to go back in November. We had to stay at another hotel on Nine Mile Beach on our last visit because of the damage done by hurricane Ivan. It was more expensive did not have the atmosphere of SBR. We did, however, visit SBR several times during our stay to see the progress made rebuilding after Ivan and explore the house reef which seems to have suffered little from the storm.
