Embassy Suites Alexandria - Old Town, Alexandria

I stayed at this Embassy for most of 2003-2007. I return once a year for a reunion and it is like I never left. The staff still remembers me by name and I am always treated as a valued guest.

The Embassy Suites Olde Town, Alexandria VA is an outstanding hotel given its price, location, services, and cleanliness. We spent 4 days there while sightseeing in Washington DC. The Hotel is across from the Metro and an Amtrak station. Our room was on the station side of the hotel and I never heard a train the 4 days there. Staff was very helpful, allowed us to check in 3 hours early and check out 2 hours late. Free full breakfast every morning and free happy hour every night (2 drink limit). Hotel provides free shuttle service to and from Olde Town Alexandria, which is at least a 15 block walk. It was very nice given that we were there in the July heat. The only complaints I have is the indoor pool is small, they charge for internet connection and one of the rooms near mine was being worked on for an hour one afternoon. There might be nicer hotels or less expensive hotels but given location and free services, for a family, this is a great value while sightseeing in DC.

Great location, good breakfast and manager's reception each afternoon. Parking is tight and costly. Front desk was not that helpful. Comfortable room. Charged a fee for internet access.

We stayed there four times and will go there again. Comfortable two room suites, wet bar in room with refrigerator. Quiet every time we stayed there. Pool, sauna, and exercise room. Great cooked to order eggs breakfast. Manager's special two hour drinks every evening. Lots of restaurants close by. Right accross from Metro to DC and free bus to Old Town locations. Bell cap will arrange a limo to Old Town sights too. Staff is courteous and always helpful.

Wonderful location for visiting DC area - right across the street from a Metro station and DASH bus stop (ride free to Old Town Alexandria all weekend). And the rate is much better than a hotel in DC. The hotel is very attractive - airy atrium and huge two-room suites. Clean, comfortable, nice furnishings. The bed was heavenly! Great breakfast included in room rate - they even had cooked-to-order waffles and eggs. The staff went above and beyond on a couple of occasions. The bell captain stood in the rain for several minutes to get us a cab. Then I left an article in the room when we checked out. I phoned the next day and a housekeeper called me right back to say they had found it. They wrapped it very carefully (it was fragile) and it arrived in my mailbox 2 days later.

The staff at this hotel is wonderful - friendly, courtious, and helpful. The down side is their should be more of them. This is a great hotel for those who want to visit the D.C. area - especially with a family. The convience of the metro stop across the street makes visiting the sites easy and enjoyable. Park your car in the hotel garage and leave it there. The made to order breakfasts are wonderful. "Anna", one of the cooks will get to know you and anticipate your order. The evening managers reception is just what you need after a full day of site seeing. While your there, don't forget to explore Alexandria. The shops and restaurants on King street are varied and address many different tastes. Overall, we really enjoy this hotel. It has become our first choice when travelling to the D.C. area.

I stayed here for Valentines Day with my husband for a mini getaway. The concierge was excellent. I've never had one that paid me that much attention. The room was excellent, we were suppose to have champange and chocolate covered straberries when I called the front desk they were delivered to my room within 10 minutes. The room was spotless and had a pretty good view. The exercise room could of been a bit bigger and the pool was excellent. Restaurants were within walking distance and Dukes Restaurant in the hotel isn't over priced like most hotels are. The complimentary breakfast and happy hour was a bonus too. The metro is right across the street if you would like to go sight-seeing in DC. The only problem I had was the parking was $15 a night per car. Parking on the street is not an option unless your gone by 9am. Parking there is only permitted for 2 hours 9am - 5 pm. Ok from 5 pm to 9 am. I'll definitely stay here next year for Valentines Day.
