Hampton Inn Washington-I-95 (Largo), Largo

Don't get me wrong. I generally love Hampton Inns but this one just doesn't make the grade. Arrived at 2:15 PM for a 3 PM check in. Wasn't allowed in the room until 4:15 PM with the room still not ready...fridge had spilled water all over the carpet and was filthy inside. Maid suggested we leave our bags and come back later. A colleague and I decided to walk to the mall (a LONG walk even though we were told it was within walking distance...yeah, for a long distance runner!) When we returned, had a phone message that my business associate had an attempted robbery in the room...while the maid was cleaning!! The message was very matter of fact. Sort of not to worry. The irony of the whole thing was we were 2 rooms from the lobby!!! This property is really isolated unless you have a car. We didn't as we were there on business. About the only positive thing I can say is that the hotel shuttle was great (to the Mall and our meeting location). Now for the attached restaurant. Found out it is not a part of the hotel when we attempted to have our group meet after hours. If you purchased an alcoholic beverage you could stay. All others who brought in Hampton coffee were asked to leave. Quite an attitude for a restaurant that had a seedy, filthy look. Much less, who would want to eat there! Bottom line, I didn't feel safe there even though a Security vehicle was prominently in the parking lot. Lot of good it did with the attempted robbery. Perp escaped. Throughout this all, the front desk employees were just useless.
