Melia Puerto Vallarta All-Inclusive, Puerto Vallarta

My husband and I just got back from Puerto Vallarta. We had a great time at the Melia The hotel is located in the Marina district about 2 blocks from the marina. It's a nice little walk. It has shops and bars and many nice boats to look at- the only draw back is all the time share people trying to sell you trips and time share. The hotel itself is older but well kept and clean. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The nightly shows were enjoyable. The hotel had alot of activities /shows for the children. The food was pretty good for a all-inclusive. The only negative comment I have about the hotel is the mattress in the room --It was as hard--hard as a rock! My husband and I actually had backackes. Other than that I would recommend this hotel as a good value for the money-- my husband and I would go back - we would go to Walmart and buy a egg crate mattress pad to put on the bed mattress! I should mention the cost of the taxi from airport to hotel is $5.00.

Loved the food choices, with more than 3 places to eat meals. Different themes each night! Maids very polite and made flowers out of tissues for our room (make sure to tip). Plenty of bottled water available. Great family getaway, fun entertainment crew. Variety of things to do each day. The hotel also offers a one day tour of Puerto Vallarta for free (except for lunch charges). Grounds of hotel are beautiful with different flowers and animals (hope you like geckoes). Would love to go back soon.

My husband and I enjoyed our visit very much. The staff was friendly especially at the buffet. We took the local bus in to town almost every day. The ride was cheap and we felt very safe. The pool was the best ever. The evening shows were entertaining. Not grand, but fun. The only annoying thing was the time share sales people not only at the Melia but everywhere we went in PV. We began not trusting anyone who was friendly because of that. We will go back to the Melia,though. It is a beautiful and peaceful place.

Just returned on Feb 16/08. What a wonderful time. The service was incredible and always with a smile. Our room was very comfortable and very clean. Our maid for the week always left a different sculpture out of towels either on our bed or the night table. It really made us feel special. The food was incredible and so were the drinks. Not a bad thing to say. A-1 resort. We are now taking our two sons and their girlfriend and fiance next year. Can't wait. Thanks Melia for the great service! Donna & Brian Saskatchewan, Canada

Before traveling to Mexico I looked up the Melia to see what we were headed to. Truthfully I was a little worried after the first round of reviews as many negative comments were noted. I have stayed in many different places 3 stars and up and I do like the luxury of the 5 star hotels. However this was my first time to Mexico and I was going to have a good time. It was late when we arrived, check in was quick and effecient. I have to say I was pleasently surprised when I awoke on Sunday. The room was beautiful (beds are a little hard) but they are in most places you travel. There was a musty smell when you first entered the room but I did adjust and really the only time I was even in the room was to sleep. There was so much to do every day. I was part of a large group of nurses, about 600 who were all staying here. The staff at the Melia did a fantastic job accomodating everyone. I'm not sure how many guests were there prior to the arrival of all of the nurses. My friend and I arrived 4 days early to have some fun before the conference and it was pretty slow. To go from maybe 100 guests to 600 guests overnight is an amazing feat and they pulled it off with class. There was always a variety for dining. Vitralis, the Italian resturant was wonderful and the Mexican resturant was also very good. We ate at all the spots and there was enough variety it is your own fault if you walk away hungry. As for the entertainment, the activities group there is awesome they want you to have the best time and they do everything they can to accomidate you. Hector and the water aerobics, yoga, and stretching oh my god. Hector was awesome. We took the bus to downtown and it was great. It is nice to get away for a little while to get a true glimpse of what is like outside of the resort areas. The bus costs 50 cents to 1 dollar. A taxi will cost between 4 dollars and 12 depending on where you are going. I went on a boat trip to Yalapa, it was amazing, we snokled climbed to the top of a waterfall and had lunch on the island. I was wonderful and a great way to spend a day. The other thing we did was swim with the dolphins that too was wonderful. We spent most of our evenings up in the lobby bar watching baseball, yes the Boston Redsocks sweept the series. We had many a wild and fun night in that lobby bar and we mady poor Alfredo run run run. Our specitality Tachila poppers (I know I spelled that wrong) sorry. But I do recommend them. Alfredo was a wonderful waiter. My first drink was not finished before my second was waiting. Thank you Alfredo. If you are planning a trip to Puerto Vallarta and want a fun nice clean place to stay the Melia is the place for you. If you go with a positive attitude and don't act as if the world is yours on a platter stay here. If not then don't.

Just got back from August 2007 trip. Motel was nice. Food was the best thing. Bed very firm. Husband and I woke up with back-aches every morning. Taxis would increase the rate given by the motel. Some would double the rate to the hotel or to the flea markets or to/from airport. Prices were variable. Bought a bracelet for $29 and the range was 29-75$ for the same bracelet.Have been to Cozumel, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta. Time to pick a new country.Massage and wave runner prices were good. Lot of small children around-which can be a plus for some.Air conditioner never seems to get cold enough in Mexico.View was nice...Water is brown not blue..Pics on internet are accurate/

we loved everything about it. the lobby was huge and resembled a palace. the resort was beautiful. the food was delicious. and the service could not have been better. the staff was very respectful, kind, and helpful. the rooms were clean.its on the beach. and the best thing of all was that the food, drinks, and activities are free. everything from the steaks and pina coladas to kayaking and rockclimbing. all of these things are easily going to save you a couple hundred u.s. dollors. with the way i ate and drank i saved about 500 dollors because its all inclusive. we even got lucky and got great weather because it was not too humid. i would recommend this hotel to everyone especially if you want to relax, eat, and drink.

Just got back from puerto vallarta last week and had an aweosme vacation. I stayed at the Melia with about 30 other friends for our senior spring break trip. (Anyone looking for a hot spring break area, puerto vallarta is amazing!!) The hotel was nice for the most part. The rooms were just like an average hotel room, but they did have beautiful balcony views. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool was very nice with lots of chairs and a swim up bar. People would go down at like 8 am to reserve chairs by putting hotel towels on them, and wouldn't come to the pool until like 2. So, of course, we would just steel their chairs so we could lay out. haha. I would definalty recommend this hotel to spring breakers, not so much to families. The reason i say that is because their were many other high school students at the pool drinking all day, and if i were a parent i would not want my young children around that kind of activity. The pool bar was crazy and so much fun. As for the food, not my favorite. Everything was just different than what you eat in the US. You could always find something that was okay, but if you are one of those people who only like homecooked, gormet meals...you will hate it. The weather was beautiful the whole time we were there. Full sunshine all day, everyday! No rain, no clouds, just sun! If you are interested in the night life...it was soo much fun. We would go down to the hotel lobby bar around 7 ish and drink there so we wouldn't have to pay for alcohol when we left the hotel. Around 11 we would get cabs (by the way they drive crazy) and go to the downtown area which was about 10 minutes away. You could go into clubs, which have a cover charge, or just go "bar hopping" which i thought was more fun. Two of the nights we went to Collage. It was a club in walking distance of the melia. They played really good music and had a huge dance floor. It costed about $30 to get in...and it was totally worth it. Oh and if your obsesed with your computer like i am, there is an internet cafe that we didn't find until the last day. It only costed 2 dollars for a half hour! So if your going on spring break, you have nothing to worry about, its a guarenteed good time!

We spent 6 nights at the Melia and had a great time. We were 6 adults with 2 kids 2 1/ and 5 and they had a great time. They went to the kids club and had a great time but we wanted them to spend time with us. The food was good but not great and plenty for everyone. The breakfast were probably the best meal along with the a la carte restaurants.The beach was rocky but fine and the pool was large but the water was very warm. The area was very clean and the rooms were nice and cleaned daily. If someone complains about this resort they should only spend time at the Four Seasons.Very family oriented with a large number of Mexican Nationals since August is their holiday period. All in all a very good deal for the money and you should not come back unhappy.

I stayed at the Melia over Spring Break 2006. I went along with my best friends family, along with about 8 other friends and their families. It was such an amazing trip! The Melia was perfect, it's a nice hotel with good service and a huge pool, but not too fancy or high class. The poolside area was a lot of fun, with a lot of contests and waiters, and a popular spot was the swim up bar, awesome! I wouldn't reccommend the beach to lay out on though, a lot of locals selling things and not the best beach shore or cleanest ocean water...The location was great for us, it was about a 15 minute taxi drive into town...not too bad and it was really nice for us, because The Melia had a sort of shuttle taxi service that would bring all of the kids out to the clubs free of cost! The workers were also very friendly and fun to talk to/joke around with, although the men are a little gawky at the females, but overall, great, fun people! THe Melia was just a relaxed, have a good time atmosphere!THis place is great for families or teenagers and students, and they really tend to your needs! The favorite spot for all of us was the lobby where the drinks are excellent and the atmosphere is great for socializng and meeting new ppl! Overall, the trip was so amazing and totally unforgettable, a trip of a lifetime! It was serioulsy the best time of my life! The Melia was great and it would be an awesome place to spend any sort of vacation at! Have fun, it's a great trip and place!
