Melia Puerto Vallarta All-Inclusive, Puerto Vallarta

Best part is 9-6pm kids childcare ages 4m+ . We also loved the convenience of the buffet service, it had great hours of operations and was closed 4h at the most throughout a day. We had a wonderful massage experiences in the hotel, Ruth is the best among the masseurs we tried. They evening shows were very entertaining, especially the Circus night, a pretty high quality acrobatics for a resort crew. All shows were mesmerizing my 2 year old, he tried to repeat tricks and dance moves after. Now downs. The drain system is pretty bad on the premises and there was a lot of standing water providing excellent mosquito breeding conditions. We got eaten alive by mosquitoes during the day at La Palapa restaurant and in the theatre area, but at night there was barely a spot to hide from the bites, we got bitten even at the beach. Among the downs were the room conditions, there was a strong, VERY STRONG, mildew smell in both rooms that our party booked. A real killer was the fan/AC combination, there was no way to turn the fan off completely without turning off the AC altogether. 2 out of 5 people in our group caught a cold under the fan and got stiff necks. Also cleaning staff was 1-2 persons per floor, and they were super thorough, so sometimes it was as late as 3pm till the cleaning service got to our room, and that was kiddos naptime, so we ended up with dirty rooms twice during the 8 day stay because we were at the room every time they tried to clean. Mind there are no do not disturb hangers for the door knobs. I actually learned to notify the cleaning lady in the hall that we were leaving the rooms and asking if she could clean them next, worked out great. Marbel floors and high beds wasn't ideal for a toddler sleep times, he does move a lot in his bed, so I had to sleep with him to insure he doesn't get his skull cracked falling down on the floor. I did ask repeatedly if they had real cribs, they said yes, but brought pack and plays which never worked for our kids, they just can't sleep without waking up in those.

We just returned home after twelve days at the Hotel,and really enjoyed our stay We found the Hotel very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and kind. Lisa, who taught the scuba was so helpful and knowledgeable. We found ourselves going to her for all the information we needed. The food was really good, with lots of variety and we particularely enjoyed the salad bars.

We just got back this morning from our trip, and as soon as we hit NYC, JFK we were like "I want to go back snf snf". We highly reccomend families to go here. There are couples that are there, but it is hotel for families. We have 20 month old twins, and they had a great time. To start the cleanliness is remarkable, everywhere you turn someone is cleaning something. We upgraded to the M-Experience, it is truly not much more in money and it was worth it to us. We had a fabulous ocean fron room with a hammock on our balcony, we received a fruit basket the first night, and the concierge was on point and then some. Staff: top notch, . All the staff speaks english and spanish, and if they don't understand they don't brush you off they get someone to assist you. At the concierge desk, Oscar and Alejandra went above and beyond. My Kids were in the Baby Rock Club, I can not begin to tell the greatness of the staff! Karina and Nadia were amazing, they went out of their way for each child to do things they liked.The pool bar staff were great, I never had an empty drink, and it was done with pleasure. And the Waiter at Vitrales (Italian Restaurant) named Jonathon was fabulous, he met the kids on Wednesday, and when we came for a romantic (no Kids) dinner on Friday, he remembered the kids names and was quick to ask about them. Adriana also at Vitrales she helped with wine selection and drinks, she also stood out from the crowd. The people I mentioned are the ones we had direct major contact with, but all the staff is great, from the maintenace to the spa, to the front desk, to the bell boy, everyone is friendly and greets you with a smile! Entertainment: very good, not always on time, but once it starts it is good from beginning to end. One night was the Flintstones, earthday, circus, comedy, illusion show. and there is always a pre show for the kids, where all the kids get on stage and are part of the fun. Also during the day, you can do as much or as little as you want, the entertainment staff offers everything. There is pottery you can paint, dance lessons, scuba training, water aerobics ect. Food: OK I am a tough critic. Vitrales restaurant order the vealand the mushroom salad. We ate there several times for dinner. we also ate La Palapa (grill) bring bug spray as it is outdoors, and is right next to the ocean so a nice breeze. The food was good, but once was enough. We ate at Azulejos (mexican), which was good, but again once was enough it is also outdoors but not near the beach no breeze at all. The breakfast buffet is good, something for everyone just croweded. That is the same with the dinner/lunch buffets. There is allot of food. For the three main restaurants you need to make reservations as soon as you get to the hotel, especially if it is their busy season. Later dinner services are busier then the earlier ones. We did upgrade to the M-Experience, and I felt it was worth it. The room alone was great but there was nice perks as well. They also knew it was our 5 year wedding anniversary, so they surprised us at our romantic dinner with a mariache band, and on our dessert plates wrote happy anniversary (at Vitrales restaurant). The Concierge also sent up chocolate covered strawberries. Is it the Ritz Carlton ... NO, but then my kids wouldn't have fun, and my neck would hurt from keeping my nose in the air the whole time. It is a clean, fun, family focused location. Also it is only a 5-10 minute ride from the airport, which gets your vacation started quickly. You hear allot on line about people trying to sell you time shares. Its true at the airport be careful, I did not see it at the hotel. Although they do offer it you make your own decision.

At first it looked like it might have been good but turns out this hotel is a dissappointment. Service is lacking and the staff is not helpful. Yes, they are always with their hands ready to receive a tip, but that doesn't improve the service one tiny bit. The rooms? Not very comfortable either.

I do not recommend this hotel at all. Rooms are in bad state, trouble with air conditioner, slow service, but still a high price... Not a good hotel at all

We had a blast! We were an extended family of 21 people including 9 children, ages 3 to 17. The activities available for the kids kept them busy from 9 am to 10 pm. And they, in turn, kept us amused, especially at the children's participation portion of the evening shows. Yes, there are things to complain about if you feel a need to complain. The facilities show signs of age, formal dining facilities are very limited, the beach is not white Caribbean sand, mattresses are quite firm. But if you can get over these things, you can have a wonderful time in this beautiful and lush resort. The service is outstanding in all areas. Cleanliness and housekeeping are excellent. Food is good. But the best feature is the variety of activities for kids of all ages. I'm not sure that this is the best place for couples. But the pool, the gardens, and the view from the waterfront are beautiful. And, even though this is an all enclusive resort, go out to dinner at some of the nice restautants within walking distance in the Marina area.

We spent a week at this hotel. To say the least IT WAS DISSAPOINTING. Kids running unattended, poor service, bland food, etc. This is an all inclusive resort... The pool was crowded and the pool bar had only one bartender serving both walk-up and swim-up custumers... Kids sitting at all the bar seats. No shade & no service! Everywhere you go in the hotel somebody is trying to sell you their "Vacation Club". They are VERY pushy. Getting service is almost impossible, but everyone has their hand out for a tip. The only good service was housekeeping. Room was spotless every day. Puerto Vallarta is a nice place and I would return, but not to the Malia!

Me and my family spent five days in this hotel. I am sorry but I have to say that this hotel is not very good at all. The rooms are a bit run down, the service in general is slow, and there were some issues with some of the amenities. The air conditioning would not work well so the room was always a little bit hot. I told the front desk about it but they didn't seem to care to find a solution for this. It would also take some time in order to use the elevators because almost all of the time one of them was out of service. The breakfast was somewhat decent, though. Still, I recommend to look elsewhere.

This resort was fantastic, From the wonderful staff, the pool, the evening shows and the rooms. We have stayed at several all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and this one was one of the best. We had a suite on the top floor and our view was breathtaking. The resort was very clean and we were NEVER approached by one timeshare sales person. I think some people complain for the sake of complaining. If you re looking for a wonderful family resort you won't be disappointed.

We visited the Melia December 22nd to 29th, 2008. We upgraded to an MExperience room and had an ocean front room. It was spectacular. The check in service was excellent. The service in all of the restaurants and the entertainment staff were excellent. You could do as much or as little as you wanted at the Melia. We were so impressed with how clean the hotel was kept. We really enjoyed our vacation and would recommend this hotel for a family vacation. You are 10 minutes from the airport, which is excellent when you are travelling with kids. You are also 15 minutes from downtown Puerto Vallarta. Our kids are 10 and 13 and they had a great time. They enjoyed taking the taxi downtown and riding in the jeep to our Canopy Zipline Tour. It was quite an adventure. The food was great lots of variety. It was specifically good for kids, pasta, hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries, pizza etc. We had a wonderful vacation. The Melia is truly a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the warm tropical sunshine.
