5th Anniversary Trip
My wife and I went to Cancun and stayed at the Royal Solaris the first week of June and we had a BLAST! We went to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. I was very skeptical about the trip because of the low price, ($1,189 for all inclusive, including taxes, air fare, room and food) but it turned out great. Right off the bat, we were given a room upgrade, for free! ALL the staff were excellent. The time share folks were VERY pushy, but I tactfully let them know we werent interested and they left us alone. I was afraid I wouldnt like the food, but I was very surprised at the quality of the food. Granted there were things I didnt like, but I never went hungry. The waiters at the pool area were out of this world. I highly recommend taking the "Jungle Tour." It costs almost $70 a person, but you get your own 2 man boat and they take you to a great snorkeling area. DO NOT go to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville unless you want to be ripped off. The prices were HIGH, the food was BAD, the service was TERRIBLE and vendors aggrivated you to buy stuff WHILE YOU WERE EATING! If you go to the market area, be prepared to be swamped with vendors begging you to buy their shoddy stuff. Buses are fairly cheap, about 75 cents each way, but make sure you have some pacos to pay for the ride. Another hint, take SEVERAL one dollar bills with you. I found that tipping just 1 dollar made the service go from good, to great. Watch the time share folks when you get off the plane. I suggest going all the way out of the airport because your real contact people are outside holding signs for you to see where you need to go. I highly recommend the Royal Solaris. We most definately plan on going back there as soon as we can.
