If you like surprises - the extra charges kind
By ,
Although my reservation was made and paid in advance, on arrival I was greeted at the front desk with the announcement that there would be automatic additional charges for the room safe and for "communications" (phone and internet). I had a cell phone, no need for internet nor the safe. When I questioned the clerk, she insisted that these were automatic charges for all guests. There was no mention of these charges when I made the reservation. I asked to speak to a manager and was told none was on duty, nor could they be reached by phone - they would be available only after I would already have to be checked out. The agency I made the reservations with, contacted the hotel with the same results - the agency reimbursed me for the extra charges.

Gross

I've stayed here twice in the past. The first time was nice and their restaurant was open. The second time no restaurant but still nice. The third just recently for Jazz Fest was by far the worst of the worst. I made my reservation 3 months prior but upon arrival there was no room available except a below standard FEMA room. I said I'd wait for a room in the newly remodeled building. They told me 1-1-1/2 at the most. I waited 3 hours in the lobby tired from my trip to be escorted to a horrible room that wasn't even the room I'd been waiting for all that time! The front desk staff was unbelievably awful and rude but the hotel manager was very gracious and accomodating. I realize hotels in New Orleans are having a tough time after Katrina but this was unreal especially at $199/night! I did get lucky--my friend got me a room close-by at the Renaissance Pere Marquette which was a dream come true after this nightmare! And, it was $50 cheaper a night!

terribly bad experience
By ,
The hotel used to be an old YMCA. . . that should give you some indication there. The room is very very small. The lumply roll-a-way style bed could barely fit in the room and it looked like a twin bed. The building on the outside is painted gothic black. the lobby is small and the furnishings in the hotel are very antiquated. The service was mediocre. The on site restaurant was not pleasing to the eye enough not to want room service. The hotel is overpriced. They advertise that they have a pool. however, there is no pool on site and the gym is quite a ways distance from the hotel. I would have rather stayed in a moderate Motel 6. Do beleive the pictures that are on the we. The room is about that small.

very disappointed, poor customer service
By ,
The nightly rate is not bad for downtown New Orleans, however the room accomdations were very disappointing and not nearly as nice as portrayed on the hotel website. The staff was unproffesional and rude. My bill was over charged about four hundred dollars and after pointing out the hotel's error I was not compensated and had to wait a few days for the error to be fixed. I would definitely not recommend this hotel.

Don't stay there.
By ,
I will never stay at this hotel when I go back to New Orleans. I thought that the staff was not helpful and unprofessional. We asked for an extra pillow and it took three days to get one. They also had alot of hidden fees. We were told that they had a driver but when we asked for one they never had anyone available. The hotel was is in need of some serious fixing up and very dirty. There was a test tube on the floor of our room when we checked in. Just thinking about us staying there gives me the creeps.

Don't let anyone tell you this is a 4 star hotel
By ,
After seeing a plug for this hotel on Fine Living.com I decided to give it a try. POSITIVES: Great location - the Ogden Museum and the CAC Museum are right around the corner, the trolley car stops right in front of the hotel and its a nice walk to the French Quarter. The hotel staff was iffy- some were very friendly, some weren't. NEGATIVES: The room I stayed in looked like it was undergoing renovation - primer paint on some of the walls, peeling wallpaper in the bathroom. Overall the room was small. Also, its a little problematic that the bar isn't open, nor is the restaurant. In all, Hotel Le Cirque has potential BUT I've stayed at nicer places in NOLA for less money - they need to work on their hospitality!

Le Cirque Interesting Spot
By ,
First of all, I'm glad I knew my way around N'awlins a little bit. Le Cirque is not exactly the easiest place to locate. The fact that it is located on a traffic circle/roundabout or whatever you'd like to call it increases the difficulty. One thing you need to know, it is valet only and unless you call ahead 15-20 minutes, you'll be left waiting for your car to show up for awhile. That's not to say that the service was bad, far from it. They were extremely busy and the staff was more than courteous and helpful. The front desk staff was fantastic. They saw that we had more than the four we had told them were staying there (ended up with 7) but told us we could do so if we agreed to spend some money in the bar...we said okay. The room was fairly clean and odor-free, always a plus in the N.O. Previous reviews may have been expecting a little too much. I am a frequent N.O. visitor and this place was about par for the course in New Orleans. The Biltmore it ain't but it passes. We found the bar to be somewhat crowded and pricey with a pseudo-Palms Vegas kind of feel. It was worth the money instead of a second room. All in all it was a pretty decent hotel that I would recommend more to those without kids. From what we saw, it wasn't a very family oriented establishment, more of a twenty-something "slick" kind of crowd. Oh, and it's pretty much right on St. Charles...that helps.

Save your money
By ,
I should have believed the negative reviews and what I read about the place. I reserved 4 rooms for a couples weekend. The rooms were small beyond belief. The showers have no shelves for shampoo, soap, etc. The cont breakfast is below the standards for a 1* hotel. Nothing but kids running the place. Very shabby on cleaning, Watch out for hidden charges, internet for one.The only good thing was the comfortable beds. This was my first and last stay.

Hotel Website Misleading
By ,
I went to NO for a conference. After it ended, my friend and I decided to switch hotels. Reading about all the area hotels I decided that hotel Le cirque would be a nice trendy location with quality that was equal to where we had been staying (A W hotel). Unfortunately I did not check the reviews of prior guests. The lobby was beautiful and trendy, it got us excited about staying at Le Cirque. Once we got off the elevator it was a different story. This hotel is deeply in need of some TLC, the carpets are wornout and stained. Our doors in our room were gouged and one night someone walked into our "locked" room as we prepared for bed. The hotel charges $3/night for the safe (3" deep and 12" tall) and $5/ night for wireless internet and "free" unlimited local and long distance calls. Unfortunately, the only place the wireless internet connection appeared to work was in the lobby. There are some misleading amenities shown on the hotel website, but in short: Within the hotel there is no paper delivery, no complimentary car/shuttle, no restaurant, no bar, no gym, no pool, no basketball court, no robes, no limo or driver. It appears that some of these things did once exist, but I was told by the staff that some are gone and some of them are only offered during peak times of the year.
