Great rate for Calgary Stampede if you book early enough....
My family and I stayed at nine different hotels in sixteen days and surprisingly all of them were great. The Days Inn Calgary Airport rated about the middle of the pack out of the hotels we stayed at.
We stayed three nights during the Calgary Stampede and for three adults, the AAA Rate was $119.84 Canadian for each night, including taxes. However, be forewarned that I had to book the room in October 2004 for the Stampede of July 2005! The rooms go fast in Calgary for the Stampede, so booking early gets you the best chance at a great rate!
The room was fairly large and relatively clean, and included two very worn and uncomfortable beds, a clock radio, three regular chairs, a table, a desk, a large television with remote, a mini fridge, a microwave, a coffeemaker, and an iron and ironing board. The fridge did not work when we arrived, but was fixed the next day after I let the staff know about it.
The bathroom was rather small, and included a hairdryer, two bottles of shampoo, and a shoe mitt. The sink was in the bathroom and the shower/bathtub did not have a handrail. Also, the toilet was very low making it difficult to get up when you were sitting down on it.
There is only one elevator for this four-storey hotel, and the wait at times was long to use it. There are stairs at either end of the hotel, and I found myself using them instead. If you forgot your laptop, they had an Internet access terminal in the lobby for a fee. Unfortunately, it was out of order the whole three days my family was visiting. They also had a pool and served continental breakfast in the morning.
The hotel is located off the Trans-Canada Highway in an industrial area, with a McDonald's and Tim Horton's within walking distance. It is also within driving distance of one of the major shopping areas in town, with a Zeller's and The Real Canadian Superstore (groceries) among the stores.
As an added bonus, if you are a late sleeper, you will get your windshield cleaned by one of the staff members. After driving from Saskatchewan my windshield had seen many a bug, so the service was unexpectedly welcome!
Overall, the Days Inn was fine, as the room was clean and very quiet, and I would probably stay here again for a short term visit. However, if you are planning to stay for more than a couple of days, the uncomfortable beds and the elevator wait may get to you.
