Red Roof Inn, Ocoee

Room Clean and Spacious. Computer terminals and Coffee off the lobby for Guests. Convenient to shopping and and close to the Fl Turnpike. Close to Disney. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed at the Red Roof Inn in Ocoee, FL from March 12 - 19, 2007, in Room 122. I found the hoetel to be clean, and covenient to my home that I was vacating. In addition, the staff was very helpful to me. I was checking out at 3:30 a.m. in the morning on 3/19/07 to go to the Orlando Airport, and my taxi had arrive and was waiting for me. When I check my backpack for my passport and ID I couldn't find it. I started looking in every suitcase, and my other bag. I even went back to room and toss the covers everywhere and I still couldn't find it. The Cab Driver and the Night Security Personnel was helping me too. Still nothing. The Young Lady who was the Night Manager kept telling me to check my backpack again, and I did and lo and behold it was there. I really appreciate all of their help, and I just wanted to say "Kudos" to the Red Roof Inn staff because I was out of my wits because I was traveling to Japan, and I had to have my passport. I made reservations at this hotel as there was nothing available closer to Disney due to it being the Disney Marathon and a Veterinary Conference weekend. I booked 2 rooms on the bottom floor/Non-Smoking as my husband was running in the marathon. When we arrived we got 2 rooms on the 3rd floor. The hotel ammenities on the site I found read newly renovated rooms with microwave and refrigerator. Well, I had neither in my room and the minute you got off the elevator the hotel was permiated with the smell of cigarette smoke. I am asthmatic so needless to say this was not good. After returning from the marathon where my husband ran 26.2 miles the elevator was out of order and we now had to walk 3 flights of stairs to get to our room. My Mom who stayed at the hotel advised us that the fire alarm had gone off while we were gone and everyone on the floor was so confused and did not know if there was acutally a fire or not. My Mom is 76 years old and could not walk 3 flights of stairs by herself let alone with my pets. No one from the hotel bothered to announce one way or the other that the alarm was actually a false alarm. Aside from the elevator and the alarm the disgusting smell of this hotel warrants the lowest rating. I was really surprised at this hotel in this day and time and since it is such a recently built hotel to not have a microwave and refrigerator in the room and for it to have such an odor already. Also, due to the excellent reputation that Red Roof Inn has always had in the past. This stay was very disappointing.
