A Real Bargain in Boston

My husband & I found the Roundhouse online & decided to try it out after seeing the VERY expensive hotels in the heart of downtown. We were in Boston for fun & business (convention at the Hynes).
The service was excellent. The front desk staff were most helpful to answer questions or suggest a place for dinner. The (FREE)shuttle service was a great asset! You did have to plan to do a little waiting at times to take the shuttle or to get picked-up (20 min max), but it was worth it. They would take you to areas in the "heart" of the city (incl Hynes). They don't take you directly to Fenway Park, but they do get you within 2-3 blocks for a short walk. They also take you to the T-lines and you can ride the train (subway) to all areas of the city. The drivers were also good with suggestions on where to eat. The continental breakfast was very good - and not a common ammenity in Boston! If you drive to the hotel (or have a rental car like we did), they offer FREE parking on-site! However, we only used the car once and that was to drive over to Harvard (but that was our choice ... as the T would have taken us there).
We are very particular about a clean hotel and we were very comfortable here and found that overall the hotel was clean. (not spic & span, but clean)
Several other reviews have spoken negatively about the location. We felt 100% safe here. And it was a little far for us to walk back & forth to the heart of the city, but who needs to walk w/ the free shuttle? We also had a room that faced the street. We heard sirens (from the hospital), but they didn't keep us up at night.
Overall, we think this is a great place to stay. And we certainly plan to stay there again on our next trip to Boston!
