POOR SERVICE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/1/08
After spending an exhausting day at the hospital with our daughter, we returned to the Microtel around 11 PM to find a party going on in our hallway. I immediately called the front desk to complain, since we were going straight to bed. At midnight, they finally got the kids to move into their room, which was right next door. The party continued and I called the front desk after 1 AM to complain again. They quieted down for about ½ hour, then started up again. This went on all night long with calls to the front desk and nothing being done. My wife only got 2 hours of sleep that night and I didn’t get any sleep at all. Instead of a good night’s sleep we were exhausted when were went to the hospital again the next day. I complained to the desk clerk the next day and left my name and number asking for the manager to call me. I never heard from him. This place doesn’t care about its guests. We will never stay there again.

Think twice before staying here
By The Villian, 7/21/07
My wife was quoted a rate of $10.00 per night based on Medicaid. When checking in on 7/11/07, Mary Ann, who is one of the front desk clerks, said we needed a from the social worker at the U of M Hospital. This was never discussed at the time of reservation and we were told all we needed was son's Medicaid card. The next day was our son's open heart surgery. We decided to go downstairs to get the form that Microtel needed. We were told by one of the social workers at Guest Assistance that because we were from Ohio, we couldn't get the form because MI Medicaid reimburses the hotel for the difference. Of course, this was never brought up when we made reservations with Mary Ann. The social worker called Microtel to explain the situation and correct the front desk staff. Later on, my father decided to call Microtel to see what could be done. Mary Ann answered the phone and wouldn't let my father get a word in edgewise. She then proceeded to say that unless the bill was paid in full today, that we locked out of the room. Mary Ann said it didn't really matter as long as she had the form we could get the $10.00 rate. Guest Assistance called Microtel again to give the correct information about reimbursement. We spoke with Amanda, who is the front desk supervisor, and she really didn't seem concerned with our problems. After spending 5 nights at Microtel at 5 times the cost that was quoted, we need to find other lodging accommodations. On 7/16, I returned home to OH. I contacted Randy Dale, who is the general manager in Ann Arbor. Basically, he pushed the problem back on my family and said it was a misunderstanding. Also, he praised Mary Ann for her going above and beyond with us. This could be further from the truth. We were misquoted the price not once, but twice by a Microtel employee that clearly doesn't understand anything about Medicaid reimbursement. Furthermore, she was rude and aggressive over the phone and in person. Finally, I have contacted their corporate offices to complain about my stay. Microtel will do whatever they can to get you in and then change the price. In their lobby, they proudly display various awards for customer service and quality. I still find it hard to believe with their current front desk staff they could acheive those accomplishments

A nice, pleasant place to stay!
By Skylark, 1/10/06
The service is excellent and the rooms are nice, clean, and comfortable. I have stayed there several times and have been pleased every time. Free high-speed wireless internet service adds another perk.

Very nice, cheap, stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/14/05
We went to another name brand hotel in town and it was filthy. We checked out the holiday inn (which is very nice) but it was twice as expensive as the Microtel. A nice bonus is that when you stay at this Microtel, you have privileges at the Holiday Inn (work out room, pool, and discount at restaurant) which is right next door.
