One of the nicest Holiday Inns that there is in the US!
We stayed at the Holiday Inn and Suites on 17th Street the summer the hotel opened. We were very impressed with the hotel and the friendly staff at the front desk. We usually stay at the Quality Inn next door, but due to an unexpected family emergency, we had to cancel our reservations. The staff at the Quality Inn were exceptionally nice and understanding of our situation and when we asked if we could stay there a different week, they were booked full but sent us over to the Holiday Inn, since both hotels are part of the Harrison Group. The Holiday Inn is very nicely decorated and is not what I think of when I think of a Holiday Inn. Our room was fantastic. We got an end room, which is all that was left, which has a king bed and whirlpool tub in the bedroom, overlooking the ocean. The most impressive part of the room was the awesome shower. Not only did the shower have one showerhead, but three! We really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn, but have not stayed there since because it is just a little too expensive for us, since we don't spend a whole lot of time in the room unless the weather isn't nice. (At least it is not nearly as expensive as the new Hilton on the 32nd Street will be, which I've heard that it will cost $435/night to stay there during Fourth of July weekend in 2006). The only complaint I have about the Holiday Inn is that the fire alarm when off duringthe middle of the night on our last night there, but the same thing has happened to us at the Quality Inn next door twice and probably happens at every hotel in Ocean City. This Holiday Inn is the nicest hotel on the boardwalk and its first year was so successful that an addition was built and a children's activity pool was added for summer 2003. If money is not an issue for you, than I would highly recommend staying at the Holiday Inn and Suites on 17th Street. You'll be glad that you did!
