Motel 6, Moab

we stayed at motel 6 because they were the cheapest in town at the time. Even with the low cost, we got robbed. when we checked in, the hotel took 10 minutes to find our reservation. The first room they gave us wreaked of smoke. my family had to stand in the hall while i went to the desk to get a new room. The second room wreaked of Lysol, but that's better than smoke i guess. we put our stuff in the room and noticed the beds weren't made (this is 5pm in the afternoon, so house-keeping had already come and gone) so i went back to the desk to ask for the beds to be made (i would have done it myself, but there weren't even sheets) 20 minutes later 1 female maid and 1 male maids entered the room with sheets and fake smiles. we did the only thing we could really do since each one was making their own bed.. we stood there like idiots. While we stood there, one of the maids spoke in Spanish to the other one and said "that's right white people (pinche gringos to be exact), just stand there like stupid trees." apparently i am not so stupid as to not be able to learn Spanish. after they left i had to go back to the desk for soap, shampoo, towels, toilet paper & tissues. When asked why i didn't just ask the maids while they were there, i told them about the "pinche gringos" remark and was told "well, it's not your primary language, so you probably just misunderstood." After an evening on the town, we were looking forward to a hot shower. The shower was warm-ish for 3 minutes and then went ice cold. it repeated that pattern for the rest of the night. After waiting for the water to warm up, taking a quick shower, and then the next ones turn, 3 hours had passed and it was very late and time to go to bed. there was no tv remote in the room, and the tvs were the type that have to be turned on with a remote. the next morning the maid came into our room while we were getting dressed despite the "Privacy Please" card hanging on the door upon check out we received no apology despite our problems let alone a refund. I have stayed in 3 hotels in Moab. Super 8, Silver Sage Inn & Motel 6. Super 8 and Silver Sage are infinitely better than Motel 6, and as we continue to try new places, i assume that they will all rank higher than Motel 6 as well.

We stayed at the Moab Motel 6 over St Patrick's Day, went for the Annual Half-Marathon. The rate was $119 per night, double the regular rate, but it offered no amenities that one would expect for that rate in Moab, Ut. No Kleenex in the bathroom; no continental breakfast; no drawers for clothes; very small TV; cheap, skimpy towels. Unlike other motel rooms, there was no table and chairs where we could sit and eat or read. After the race, upon returning to the room, housekeeping had removed the old towels but had no fresh replacement towels. (This is an annual event, no excuse.) We had to wait for fresh towels. Behind the motel in an open field there was a large rubbish fire which burned all day and into the night and created lots of smoke which filtered throughout the motel. It was far from worth the $119 per night. It was a rip-off and we felt like we had been taken.
