everything was really nice had a few little things but they were taken care of swiftly and the lady at the counter was very nice about everything.

Great big room with big bed.very clean. Gave me a AAA discount.waS very happy with everything and everyone.

Clean rooms, with clean linens, fridge, microwave, iron, in room coffee pot. Employess were all very nice & helpful. Nice pool area & laundry room. I have been very pleased with my stays at this hotel.

My Room was nice and clean. The beds was comfy. This is a disgusting place. We woke up in the morning covered in bed bug bites on July 1st, 2007. Complained to the manager and he said he may give me 20% back, would call me back on Wednesday, have heard nothing from him since and today is the llth. We have so many bites we had to see the Dr for three prescriptions plus they gave us scabies. We are entirely covered and have gone to see a lawyer now. Head office said they don't care as each hotel is individually owned and just using their name. What Great Customer Service????

I RENTED A ROOM THERE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND LAYED IN BETWEEN A BED FULL OF BUGS. I HAD SO MANY BITS THAT I HAD TO GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. DOES ANYONE HAPPEN TO KNOW THE NAME OF THERE INSURANCE COMPANY

We pre booked into Howard Johnson because we had good experiences in other areas, but the Bakerfield Howard Johnson Express was the worst experience ever!! There were broken beer bottles outside the door, we pulled out a drawer and the bottom of the drawer fell out. But the very worst was that someone had diarrehea in the bathroom and it was still all over the bottom of the toilet bowl. We asked to be moved and was told No! We turned in our key and left without reimbursement, and since returning home have not been able to recover our pre booking payment from the management. We would encourage everyone to stay away from this dump!!!

We were traveling to Arizona and looked into hotels in Bakersfield. This one was the only one that still had a room available for the night we needed. That should have been a flag right there. I asked the women I made the reservation with for a clean non smoking room, for me and my family. I was assured all rooms are clean and neat and the non smoking ones were smoke free. We arrived late friday evening after a long drive and when we got to our room we were completely amazed. The room was disgusting. Wall paper was comming off all the walls and in some places it was secured by thumb tacks to keep it up. The room was damp and humid and stunk of many different musky oders including SMOKE. The ceiling looked as though it had been patched way too many times. The over all condition of the room was terrible, boards around the door were comming apart , tiles in the shower were loose and moldy, and the ones they already replaced were mixed matched as if when one fell off they just went out to the dump and found any thing they could in any color to replace it. I took my shoes off and my brand new socks were white but after walking to the bathroom and back to the beds they were black on the bottom. This is no doubt the worst place I have seen and being in a position where I travel alot and the company likes to put us in cheap rooms in all my years of seeing some pretty scary places nothing has come close to this place. Last room available and unfamiliar with the area, we stayed but in the future ill keep driving as long as it takes before I stay in a Howard Johnson Express again.

We did not have a pleasant time during our stay; our room did not have an alarm clock or hairdryer as is states online. It did have an ironing board but no iron! The bed was hard as a rock and the shower head was too short and sprayed out so hard it hurt! My friend’s room was non smoking but smelled like smoke! When I went to check out the next day the front desk said that I had a long distance phone call on my bill! I told her that I never made a phone call! I felt like I had to plead my case, I told her I wasn’t even in the room when the call was supposedly made! She was nice enough to finally take it off the bill but she looked at me like I was lying to her. I am going back to Bakersfield for a wedding but I will definitely not stay there!!!!
