We left after the first night

I usually love the Embassy Suites chain. We have been to other locations in the Southern region of the US and have had no problems. Attractive, clean and enjoyable.
But not this one in Chicago; when we arrived they were having "interview" day with Loyola University. Our room that was booked a month ahead of time was NOT available for us. The room we did get had one bed, duct tape on the carpeting, holes in the walls, and carpeting that looked 20 years old. I would not let my child take his shoes off and be barefoot in the room. Gross....and it was so busy.....people everywhere.....not quiet.
We left the next morning and I booked a room at the Ritz. It was a lot more but I found out that you get what you pay for in Chicago. Embassy Suites was almost $400.00 and we paid $600.00 at the Ritz....like night and day in what you get.........
I will say the staff was nice at the Embassy and it's not their fault the hotel is antiquated in the rooms....wallpaper(icky), carpet(real icky)........
