Great
By ,
This hotel is in a great location for a family vacation. It offers ammenities that are helpful for families as well. Our room was upgraded upon arrival and all the staff at the hotel were friendly and very helpful. Our room had a gorgeous view of the lake (between the buildings) and we could see the Navy Pier fireworks perfectly through the window. Ice cold a/c and clean. Each day they helped us figure out how to use the bus or train to get to our desired location. There is a Walgreens around the corner and Dominick's across the street. We will stay here again!

Horrible Customer Service
By ,
Well I have stayed at a lot of Embassy hotels but today this was the WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!! There were no signs to let you know you were the lobby was and no one at the concerciege desk. You have to take the elevator to get to the lobby. Well once we got to the lobby, the reservation line was extremely long. It took about 30 to 40 minutes to checkin. Once we checked in, the reservationist said that the room was not ready, it would be about an 1 hr wait and we gave him the phone number to call back. After an 1 hr wait, no one called so we went to the desk again and we were given the key card without any explanation. I am extremly upset about this and I live in this city. I would expect that a hotel such as this situated in the Magnificant Mile area would have exceptional customer service. In addition, there were only 2 people working at the front desk and the lines were so long to check in. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone again. Bad Bad experience!!!!!

Embassy Suites Chicago Downtown
By ,
The hotel was located in a great area. The room was very spacious and the view from our room was spectacular! We enjoyed both the Managers Reception at night and the huge complimentary breakfast in the morning. The only problem was with parking. We waited forever for valet parking and then decided to park the car ourselves. The parking staff loaded our belongings on a cart and said they would bring them to our room shortly. When they didn't arrive, we found them unattended on a cart in the valet parking area!! I recommend that you take your cart of belongings up to the room yourself even though they insist on doing it.

We left after the first night
By ,
I usually love the Embassy Suites chain. We have been to other locations in the Southern region of the US and have had no problems. Attractive, clean and enjoyable. But not this one in Chicago; when we arrived they were having "interview" day with Loyola University. Our room that was booked a month ahead of time was NOT available for us. The room we did get had one bed, duct tape on the carpeting, holes in the walls, and carpeting that looked 20 years old. I would not let my child take his shoes off and be barefoot in the room. Gross....and it was so busy.....people everywhere.....not quiet. We left the next morning and I booked a room at the Ritz. It was a lot more but I found out that you get what you pay for in Chicago. Embassy Suites was almost $400.00 and we paid $600.00 at the Ritz....like night and day in what you get......... I will say the staff was nice at the Embassy and it's not their fault the hotel is antiquated in the rooms....wallpaper(icky), carpet(real icky)........

Horrible Experience
By ,
My entire experience at this hotel was, without a doubt, the most HORRIBLE hotel experience of my life! It started when my friend, her son and I went to check in and they said that I had not specified that I needed a handicap accessible room, which it was right on the confirmation e-mail I received. Then they tried to book us into a non-accessible room for the first night of our stay WITHOUT me being able to look at it. Luckily, I was able to fit into the bathroom and we stayed in that room for our first night stay, since they had no accessible rooms until Saturday. Then they tried to book us into a accessible room with a queen size bed, but found one with two double beds. When we checked into that room Saturday afternoon, only one of the phones in the room worked. And, just like our room for our first night stay, there were red stains on various areas of the carpet. YUCK! And Sunday morning when I got up to take a shower the shower head came off in my hand! Then they tried to tell me that they were not going to compensate me for their mistake....and they only ended up compensating me by paying for our parking. I will NEVER EVER stay at this hotel again!!

great hotel but.....
Great location. Very helpful Staff but charging $19 a day per Computer for internet when we already paid $49 a day for parking is a bit much.

OK ..But, Lots of kids, and very very active!
By ,
Like most Embassy Suites, this one caters to families with young children. For those looking for a more quiet get-away or the serious business traveler, this would probably not be your best bet. The staff is fine, and the service is good for breakfast and afternoon cocktails, but keep in mind the noise factor before booking and try not to be too disturbed if you hear the room next door!

completely disappointed!
By ,
My family and I stayed at the downtown/lakefront Chicago Embassy and didn't have issues until we checked out of the hotel. A pair of $90 shoes were accidently left in the hotel room. We called that same day and were told they had not been turned in yet. Was asked to call the next day and did so and still nothing. It has been over 2 weeks dealing with the hotel and just received a call today from the "Director" of Security and he basically said I was out of luck that the shoes couldn't be located and that housekeeping doesn't remember seeing them, even though they were right on the floor of the bathroom. So if you make the mistake of staying at this hotel make sure you check - double check your stuff because it won't be there when you call later to get it back!!!
