Needs a lot of work.
By frustrated parent, 4/17/08
We stay at this hotel annually and it has really gone downhill. The rooms have not been updated in very long time. The quality of the linens is pathetic and the bathrooms reek of mildew. There is no outdoor pool and very little in the way of facilities and the service has gotten very bad. The last time we stayed the housekeeping department was so understaffed that during several days of our stay the room wasn't even cleaned. When it was, we had a housekeeper knocking on our door to clean when we got back to the room to change for dinner. They have got to pull this place together or they are just not going to be able to keep it afloat.

Never Again!!
By Nicola, 4/16/07
First off, only 2 jets in the whirlpool tub were working then the HVAC unit started to leak and the floor was soaked! We were switched to another room and it was dirty. Visible soap scum in the tub and the shower had mold in it and there was hair fr. the previous occupants on the floor-yuk! Ordered room service took about 1.5 hrs to get to us and it was cold=unedible. The girl at the front desk did take the food charge off the bill which was great.

LOVED it, except for the THIN walls!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/4/06
Recently we stayed for a long weekend and our first trip to the nearby casinos. We LOVED the rooms, service and staff. Unfortunatly the construction of the hotel left the walls too thin. Each night we heard people going to their rooms very late into the night, enough so that we were awaken by it each night. Our room was near the elevator and that may have added to the traffic in the hallway, but if the walls were thicker, it would never be noticed. We really enjoyed it otherwise and would consider it in the future (asking for rooms at the end of the hall!)

Stuffy, but nice
By KristenB, 11/19/06
My husband and I chose the Groton Marriott for a long weekend getaway. When we arrived we felt very under-dressed and when pulling up in our Camry and parking alongside the Porsches, Mercedes and other similar luxury cars, we felt a bit out of place to say the least! We were dressed casual (hello! Were on vacation!) and got a once-over by more than one person. (We are not a grungy looking couple at all IMHO, LOL) We liked our room (king whirlpool), although there was visible scum in the separate shower and the tub needed a good scouring also. The service was great although we didn't have many needs or requests. There's a Starbucks in the lobby, which is great if you're a latte junkie like me. We considered eating breakfast at the restaurant (I think it was the Octogon?) but the prices were very high and we ended up eating at the Bickford's Grille (one exit away)every morning and it was perfect and a LOT less expensive. We also didn't do any spa treatments although we would have liked to. The prices were pretty much what you would expect from an Elizabeth Arden Spa and sounded terrific. Overall we were happy with our stay and would definitely stay here again when visiting the Mystic area. It's in a very convenient location, away from everything, yet easy access to it all as well. If you are planning a relaxation spa getaway, this is would be a PERFECT hotel for you.

Travel monthly on business. One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. Would recommend to anyone looking for a hotel that has it all. Great service, food, gym, spa, and rooms! Will be back.

Best Hotel in the Area
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/3/05
We had our wedding there and everything was phenomenal. The place is spotless and the staff is very accomodating. Location - location - location it's close to the highway, the casinos, and downtown Mystic. While it is a bit pricey you definitely get what you pay for. The Octagon grill has unbelievable food. I highly highly recommend this hotel.

Great Hotel Close to EVERYTHING!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/04
The rooms were spectacular and very clean. The staff was friendly, helpful, and they even called us by name!! We booked at the last minute and managed to get one of the best rooms and even booked spa treatments which were awesome! We caught a shuttle to the casino right from the lobby. The Octagon restaurant was delicious and the staff there was vey friendly as well. We can't wait to return!!
