BEST WESTERN Canton Inn, Canton

Let me just say I have NEVER posted a travel review before - but I had to on this one. When we checked in, we were looking for a room on the 2nd floor where we could get a good night's rest, and were informed that there was "construction" on the 2nd floor. We checked into our room on the 1st floor and at 1:30 a.m. there was partying and loud noise coming from the room directly above us. At 2:30 a.m. we called to complain, but we continued to hear noise until 4 a.m. At 4 a.m, we checked out as we were not getting any sleep with the noise above us. The standards of this hotel were totally unacceptable. There was a roach that we had to kill that was on the bedside table, and as we walked out at 4 a.m, we noticed the smell of pot in the hallway. We stopped for gas on our way out of Canton and learned from the clerk that this particular night was prom night, so our guess is that these were prom parties going on in the hotel rooms. I am posting this review and hope that no one stays here, I agree w/the negative reviews also posted and we never even made it to breakfast!

I got up around 7am and went downstairs to go to the store. I specifically told the Clerk not to check me out that I would be returning since checkout was not until 11am. Upon returning at 9am, I had misplaced my key, so I stopped by the front desk to get another one. A different clerk from before said "Just go on, the maid will let you in". NEVER ASKED FOR ID! I went up and the maid did let me in. About 5 minutes later, she knocked on the door and very rudely said "You gotta leave" I asked why. She said "You gotta ask him downstairs" She refused to let me close my door and stood there until I got my belongings. When I went downstairs I explained to the clerk that his hotel checkout time was at 11am why did I have to leave. He continued to argue with me. All the employees had gathered around me in the lobby along with one of the ladies kids) Eventually I stopped arguing and told him that I too worked in the hotel insustry and I know how the policy works. I also told him that I you should never argue with guests, nor should you let anyone back into a room with proper id. IF YOU WANTED FEEL SAFE, DON'T GO HERE!!

When we arrived, our reservation was "modified", to one room with two beds and one with one bed. We requested a crib, twice, but none was delivered. I suspect that do not have one to save themselves money. They advertised a "hot" breakfast, but the only thing that was hot were some microwaved potatoes. Also at breakfast, the orange juice machince and apple juice machine were "out of order". Again, I suspect that they were not broken, but off so the hotel could save money. Be warned, breakfast is lame. The only thing to drink is water, coffe, or whole milk. (Who drinks whole milk anymore?) The guest laundry machines were marked out of order, but I suspect that either they have been out of order for months, or there are no machinces. Again, the hotel looking to save a few pennies. The hotel was moderately clean, but is starting to show signs of wear. It's as if they are starting to ignore areas that need attention, such as minore repairs and major cleaning. The stairwell to the second floor was particularly shabby. Having travelled a lot, I predict that this hotel will not be a "Best Western" for another year. Rather, it will become an idependent hotel called the Canton Inn or some such name, at which time the standards will drop even further.
