Splendid, and yes, luxury redefined
A splendid resort, away from the crowds, catering to each and every need. Very accommodating.
Only 102 suites, very tastefully decorated (quite a nice surprise given the many average interiors of many hotels and hotel rooms) with a keen eye for detail, spread over no less than 48 acres.
Several suites (Grand Suites and Royal Suites) have their own swimming pool.
800 m private beach, diving club, you name it.
Excellent cuisine (try their succulent sea brass at the la carte restaurant (menus change daily), or the delicious daily changing buffet, or the Oriental restaurant with Indian and Lebanese food to choose from; topnotch hospitality with privacy in mind, at all times.
Fantastic SPA, run by the famous Thai Banyan Tree company.
In short, a jewel not too far from the Nile, definitely worth staying at to relax and chill out for a few days, even when you don't like going through the hassle of having to fly there on chartered flights.
Or combine with a few days at the Mena House Oberoi in Cairo (right at the Pyramids), and a Nile cruise on the Oberoi Philae. You won't forget it lightly.
Awarded several times best resort of the Red Sea. We now know why.
Oberoi certainly knows a thing or two about hospitality. Their recently opened hotels in India are among the best in Asia (Amarvilas in Agra, Rajvilas (Jaipur), Vanyavilas (Ranthambore -- Tiger Reserve), Udaivilas (Udaipur), Wildflower Hall (Himalayas etc), and The Oberoi Mauritius + The Oberoi in Bali and Lombok are all indeed more than worthwhile staying at.
Perfect blend of local culture and very warm magnificent properties at rates which are acceptable for such high standards.
Did I mention we're huge fans?
