105 reviews for W New York - Times Square, New York City
W is really for "Wonderful"
By Diane, 06/15/09
We were a little hesitant about making a reservation at this hotel because of some of the other reviews, but we were very pleasantly surprised. We had a wonderful time at the W Times Square . Our room was beautiful and it looked like it had just been renovated! The little chocolates that were left in the room everyday was a very nice touch, along with the note from the General Manager on our first day. We also noticed that we never hear the housekeeping staff, but the rooms are always clean. Everyone we came in contact with at the hotel were very accommodating and we felt like they genuinely cared about the quality of our stay. There was one staff member in particular who helped to make our stay extra memorable. Gil (I think one of the security staff?) was especially helpful and went out of his way to make our stay more special. We felt like VIPs in the hotel and also that we had a friend who would take care of us. We've stayed in many W's over the years now and the service in general is very good, but the service at this location was outstanding! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect stay.

Whatever Whenever sums it up!
By Mike, 01/23/09
What a perfect way to spend our anniversary. This was our second stay here and remember exactly why we returned and why we would not stay anywhere else in NY ever. The hotel is first class in everyway. Very modern. Awesome rooms with a flat screen and a bed that will make you never want to get out of it. We were really taken care of. Any request I had they went above and beyond to accommodate it. The service was amazing. From the awesome guys outside in the cold, to the front desk and concierge who helped me with all the details of the city. Thank you W for making my wife and I's anniversary weekend perfect. See you soon. Mike Hamilton

Not Worth The Money - Trust me
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/19/09
The Rooms are very small The Place is very dark - trying to be way to trendy (no need) The Rooms are Very Loud. This is a "party hotel" it is NOT for Families. Keep in mind that the Bathrooms are really bad. They are not private at all !!! trust me ... the walls are made of glass Right now there is NO Fitness center .. it's being renovated (do not let them tell you that there is one .. they try to send you to another hotel to use that one) The walls are far from sound proof .. again, trust me The look of this place is one of those things where in 10 years you will look back and say "what where we thinking" almost like a neon 80's thing at night ... the place has almost a hip hop club feel ... the 7th floor is loaded with "wana be's " And Last ... my wife and I got stuck in the elevator as soon as we checked in on Jan 17th 2009 Room was on the 53rd floor .. I guess it wasn't our night .. LOL oh well .. Trust me .. there are a lot nicer places in the area that have a lot more class then this place ... sorry W ... you are cheesy

Very disappointing
The room was VERY small. The blankets were not soft- the comforter felt a little like cheap vinyl.. I did not like the bathroom set-up.. the door did not close properly, and the faucets for the hot and cold water were reversed. The robes were JUST AWFUL. The room we requested a DAY earlier was not ready for a 6PM check-in.. I would suppose that staying on the 54th floor would have at least warranted a little service to ensure the room was ready when we arrived.. Management offered us a free cocktail while we waited and then "conveniently" forgot. This had to be the worst hotel I've been in while at the city ...This is supposed to be a good hotel? Who is kidding whom here? YUCCCHHH!!!!

4 Awesome Days!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/26/07
Liked: Location, Location and Location. Deli/Market next door, Starbucks across the street and lots of Irish pubs close by. The staff is amazing and will take great care of you. I woke up sick one morning and the maid quickly had soup brought up to me by room service, for FREE. I needed someone, but not a doctor and they went above and beyond to help me. The bar, "Living Room" seems to be the happening happy hour spot, but the drinks are expensive. The Blue Fin is worth every dime and then some. They treated us to freshly baked Xmas cookies and champagne after dinner. Instead of having drinks in the "Living Room", order a bottle of $40 champagne/sparkling wine in the Blue Fin bar. Great Deal!! Changing elevators and having to use your room key to access the floors may appear annoying to some, but this is for your SAFETY. I felt very safe and secure. We had no problem storing our luggage the day of departure or getting cabs. BLISS PRODUCTS in your room, need I say more. Did Not Like: The double room is small, but remember your are in Time Square. The hallway and room is dark, but that is the hotels choosen decor. Noisy, bring ear plugs if your are bothered by elevator and early am noise. I found hair in the bath tub when we checked in. I did not use the Spa or gym so I can't comment. This is a great place to stay if you want to either be treated like royality or try to go on the "cheap". I would not recommend bringing small children to this property. This would be great for a girls weekend.

W as in WOW
By Garbo, 11/26/07
W Hotel in Times Square was an excellent retreat for my wife and I to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We went for two nights from Nov 23-Nov 25th. The rooms were nice, bed was not that comfortable, but the view was excellent. We stayed in the Spectacular King. The service was great, but keep in mind that parking was 62.00 a night and you could not take your car out. Great location. Starbucks right across the street, and a wonderful deli right next door, which we highly recommend. Room service charges 17 % surcharge, 8 % tax, and a 5.00 delivery charge, so only order room service if you must. All the people who work there are super friendly, and will do anything for you. I have read past reviews and did not experience the same problems. The lighting was good, and the check-in located on the 7th floor was cool because it also had a bar and lounge area which came in handily for a pre-drink before stepping out. We also recommend the Blue Fin Restaurant in the Hotel, but it is pricy due to the location.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/07
I recently stayed at the W for a single night and it was horrendous. The check-in staff were very pleasant but it turns out, either they are very overworked or just not "with it". It's now a month later and I'm STILL waiting for them to sort out a charge problem after several phone calls and emails. It's unbelievable. Aside from this fiasco, the room itself was horrible. It was dark, a single step across from the elevator, the furniture was badly scratched and the sink had large cracks in it. The hallways were painted black - very depressing! The elevator system was very strange. I suppose good for security purposes but it was annoying. For $600 a night I'd expect a little more. The porters were as fake as they come. It was as if they were competing with each other to win the best tips from the "rich guests". I don't know what hotel those people with positive reviews stayed at but it sure wasn't the same one I was in. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!
