AMAZING resort, awesome vacation!!
By ,
This place has it all. It really does.We stayed for 10days this past April, and we had a savanna view room. It was awesome. My kids loved to go out on our balcony and see the animals every morning. The restaurants are amazing, although Boma was by far the family favorite. My kids loved Simba's Cubhouse, which was a great kids getaway that also gave mom and dad a little break. The pool and waterslide were so amazing. My son loved the slide. This resort is the gold standard for luxury, fun, and Disney. Hands down the best resort Disney has. We're already planning our next vacation, and we WILL be staying there again.

EXCELLENT
By ,
LOVED IT! We had a two bedroom, it was more space than we needed with 2 families consisting of 5 adults. The room was clean and spacious. If we ever go back to WDW this is where we're staying. The kitchen is handy and nice so you don't have to eat out for every meal. The animals in the Savanna offer a great time to just sit around, visit, and watch. Far more educational than any WDW hotel. The halls are decorated with traditional African artifacts, clothing, etc. with labels and explanations. It's off from the other parks but just follow the sounds and it doesn't take too long. Rent a car- it's worth it not to ride the WDW bus transportation and have to wait to be shuttled from one place to the next and avoiding all the smelly sweaty tourists- esp. if you're going in the summer time. Enjoy this one of kind place!

happy from Louisiana
By ,
I recently returned from Disney World and a 4 day Disney Cruise. I spent 3 days at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was wonderful. I took about 1000 pictures of my experience to use in my classroom. I can aasure your that Disney Makes Dreams Come TRUE. I use a walker and they did everything possible to make mt experiene one to remember. I went to Disney world with 8 other family members. I left them behind and went on my cruise. My wish was to get in Cabrbbean and Disney staff members made it possible. Anyone who has a disability or a family member with a disability, DO NOT hesitate doing anything Disney. It was an experience of a lifetime and I am making plans to return the end of the year or the fisrt of next year as well as in the summer 2010. Nothing is perfect. but my ex[eroemce was as close as you could get.

An okay experience
By ,
The atmosphere was beautiful. However when we got to our room and started to unpack our kids found a dirty diaper. The manager was not apologetic. When we left our car had been hit. As much security as they have we were quite surprised they do not have cameras in the parking lot. The rooms were okay. We loved the pool and the jacuzzi.

We get off our Delta Flight and the Magical Express bus is waiting for us. The bus stops at Saratoga Springs Resort, then Breaks down at the POP Century stop. They get a new bus in like 12-13 minutes, not bad, but it was like 90 degrees out there :^O So our stop is the next one, since it was the last stop, and the bus broke, they actually carried our stuff into the lobby for us! It was me and my girlfriend and three or four other groups. We were the last ones up at the desk to check in and the lady was like, "Oh, I'm so sorry but we're overbooked, and since you had no room preference we gave your room to another, larger group." Just our luck right? The lady told us to hold on for a second, and then a guy in a fancy suit came out. I was like, “Here comes the guy who finds us another resort of equal or lesser value..." The guy says, "Okay, so you've heard our situation so....I'll have to give you a room on the Penthouse level." And I was just Thinking NO WAY!!! So, by the time he told us where the elevator was our bags were apparently already in our room! So he gave us two special key cards and in the elevator we swiped them, and they gave us access to the 6th (top) floor! I felt like a V.I.P.!!! Then there was a man at a desk who asked me for my last name and asked me for the cards. I gave them to him and by the time he told us that we had 24/7 access to free drinks and snacks and the whole penthouse clubhouse and that whole schpeel, he handed me back the cards only to tell me that my park tickets, dining credits, room keys, printable maps, coupons, and magic hour privileges were all on those two little cards...and now our names and the city we came from was printed on them too!!! Over- Whelming!! So when we got in, of course we both rushed out to the balcony, We were surprised to see Zebras, Wildebeests, Giraffes, Antelopes, and Cranes all at once! So then we went to Epcot... The next morning we ordered The most delicious and expensive pancakes ever, and ate Them out there!!! THE BEST VACATION EVER!!!!!

Worth the $$$$
By ,
This was the first time to Disneyworld for us and The Animal Kingdom Lodge was a great experience. We were upgraded to a Savannah view without having to ask for it (as was our plan). The ability to sit on your balcony to watch the animals go by was fantastic!!! The hotel staff ( front desk, restaurant and bar) was always friendly , especially at the bar overlooking Boma. We bought bottles of wine at Epcot each night and every bartender opened the bottles and offered glasses at no charge. The room was clean and bright. The only downside is that it was a long walk from our room back to the lobby and common areas. I would for sure stay again.

spectacular!
By ,
there is nothing to dislike...it's perfect it may be hard to believe nothing compares to the disney resort experience. when you make a reservation ask for the savannah view which is where you wake up to animals surrounding your room.if you can't afford the savannah view no worries they have an area that's right outside the lobby where you can come face to face with the animals and there is a fire pit where you can congregate with family at night and talk about your experiences. it's a very great family oriented resort the pool is amazing there is a restraunt and a cafe as a spa and a gift shop which carries everything from graham crackers to those lat minute gifts you need before check out.it's just a spectacular place overall :)

Visted Week Of Nov 12th
By ,
Great place. Very relaxed atmosphere. Great to wake up each morning to the animals. Better to go now when it is not so hot. You will see alot more of the animals. The rooms were nice. I had a Savannah w/ 2 queen beds and a crib. I only wanted 1 bed but I got 2. There was still enough room to move around. The resteruants were always packed. The Mara is a cafe there which you can always get food but not recommended for adults. Take the bus outside the hotel to downtown disney and eat there. no need to rent a car. the disney buses were always there ready to take you away and bring you back. The front desk was slightly slow as were answering the phones but the place is worth it. It is a hotel and destination in one. Especially if you like animals.

It's Pricy, but You WILL Get What You Pay For
By ,
I love how when you come in the hotel, it's so full of African culture. Bright things are all over the huge lobby. I'm not African-American, but this place shows how beautiful it is. The check-in people are very helpful, they give you a map and mark your room. They have complamentry luggage carts, with hooks for hangers attached. If you get the balcony room, witch I really reccomend, you see African animals eating and sleeping and just walking around. It's extreamly breath-taking! And if you get a room low enough, the giraffes might pay you a visit! And don't dry your towels on the balcony, they might blow away to the savanna and the animals can eat them, a.k.a. bad. But if you stay there, don't get a room with the parking lot view. There is no reason to stay there and not see animals from your room. To pay for the balcony room, it's really exspesive, but you will get what you pay for. The room has a large safe to keep your belongings in, because sometimes the maids may seem sispicious. Anyway, if you don't want to stay at a park to see their fireworks, chances are, if your highish, you can see them from your balcony. And some rooms have telophones in the bathroom accross from the toilet, witch can be amusing :). If you want to see the animals up close, you can exit the lobby to the right if your facing the check-in desk, and there will be rangers there that can help point out hiding animals. Also from there, you can visit the pool, heated, 24-hours. The lifegaurds are on from 10am-9pm I believe, and they have a slide, but I don't know the hours. The pool has a bar where you can get alcohalic drinks and men can watch sports. If you need a computer, the computers are lightning fast and it's good for buisness workers. The beds are amazing, and the covors are a fun pattern. This hotel is my favorite in all of Disney, and if you stay here, it will be yours too!
