Hilton Garden Inn Bloomington, Bloomington

I reserved a non-smoking room here for two nights on hotels.com and paid for my rooms through hotels.com. When I arrived at the Hilton in Bloomington I was told that my room was a smoking room and that they were not obligated to give me a non-smoking room. I asked to be moved to a new room and they said they were booked that night and there was nothing they could do that night. The next day I returned from my conference and went to the counter to get my non-smoking room for that night and I was told that a room change was not requested by the other clerk that was on duty last night. Needless to say they were total jerks to me and I refused to stay another night in a smoking room. I did not get any refund because I had prepaid with hotels.com. I am a Hilton Honors member and did not expect treatment like this from a respected name like Hilton. I can't imagine this happening if I had booked directly with the hotel or through a travel agent but at least I would have someone to complain to if it did happen.
