More misses than hits

The hotel is not located in the best part of South Beach but the rates were ok. There is a sleazy strip club directly across the street and a night club immediately next door. Not the best location if you are traveling with kids. The staff was pleasant but I accidentally got a room that already had a guest. We were both startled when I came barrelling into the room. The desk clerk found another room for me but, strangely, was not surprised that had happened. In all my years of traveling, that has never before happened to me. My room was small, dark, and there was no view. The carpet in the hallways and in my room was atrociously dirty. One of those places where you keep your shoes on in the room. The bed linens were old, old, old. I had the feeling that the entire hotel was not terribly clean. I would not stay there again despite the room rate.

Roach Hotel

We woke at 3 in the morning with a giant roach crawling across the bed. More were on the wall above my 5 year old son. We left immediately. Directly across the street is a giant neon lit strip club which was still in full swing. We were not refunded for the valet parking but we were offered 2 complimentary hotel vouchers for another "courtyard or fairfield inn" Marriott which would expire in one year and we later found out were not necessarily accepted by individually owned franchise Courtyard Marriotts. Manager would not return my phone calls. Poor service. Small rooms, bad views.

Wonderous Stay

This setting, we had a two night stay at with a suite, because of the avalibility of a room setting that only a king and queen would like. My mother in law felt as if we were at her home, in California. The accomodations, staff, and location where this hotel was close to where I was born, and it felt like we were neighbors and I had never left. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were very clean and our family had a memorable experience. Later that year my mother in law passed but we shall always remember the Marriott's for an unforgetable stay.

The hotel was in a bad area, accross from a live sex show theatre etc. At night we were scared to walk in the street.
