Worst Starwood Property
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/20/11
Terrible. This is the worst Starwood property I've stayed in during the past 20 years of business travel. Room was not ready when we arrived at 4:30PM and we had to wait 45 minutes. I had already stood in the check-in line for 20 minutes and when I went back they suggested I stand in line again!! Next day, I told housekeeping the room was ready for cleaning at 10:00 and returned from meetings at 3:30 to a uncleaned room.

Highly Over Priced
By PechiLvr, 3/29/11
I liked the "look" of the lobby, the bed, bedding. That's it!! Arrived & from the beginning it "appears to be great service, but without value. This hotel takes advantage of the guests because of its location stay if you want: be bombarded by valet. pay $ 26.00/16 hours, not be bombarded by bell hops, not one single vending machine in the entire hotel ridiculous!!After I am in my pajamas, I had to go all the way down 19 flights in an elevator to walk into a bar and be met with poor service. I literally walked up to the bar, asked if they serve a plain diet coke, the tender told me yes, and I pulled out my $10 bill but what did she do? She walked out of the bar and went and took the "bigger higher tipping orders" I say this because as she strolled and took her time around the 4 yes count them 4 tables while looking at me knowing all I needed was a diet coke the another wait staff shows up for his room service order to take to another guest room and asked me what I needed he then gave me the diet coke because he knew what she did. On top of all that stress there's no spa tub/ whirlpool. Lastly gross cost of $12.95 for Internet/day

not what I envisioned
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/15/10
We arrived at the Westin around 10:00-10:30. Excellent valet service greeted us. There was a lot of commotion in the lobby because an event was being held. Front desk service was mediocre. Concierge service was excellent also. Once we got everything in our room, I inspected the room and was displeased. The room was in need of some upgrades. The furniture was worn and the bedskirt had little stains on it. In the bathroom, the showerhead was filthy. The water holes were brown. My husband called the front desk and they stated someone would be up to change the showerheads. After 15 minutes, someone came up, but stated there were no shower heads, so he would see about moving us. After checking around for about 20 minutes, he found us a room on another floor. The shower head still was not very clean, but by then, I was too tired to complain. This room was not much better. There was a better view because it was a corner room, but the furniture needed desperately to be replaced. It was not what I would expect from this hotel. The bathroom was cramped also. Because of the trouble, we did receive a voucher for breakfast. Breakfast was okay, nothing to write home about. The French toast was not favorable, tasted more like plain toast. The heavenly beds were heavenly. I slept like a baby each night. After talking to the manager about our experience, she kindly offered us another voucher for dinner. Well, we ordered room service. Dinner was much better. There is no way I would’ve paid that much for the food. Twenty-eight dollars for a half piece of salmon and risotto?! It was good, but not that good. Unfortunately, when I got ready to eat dessert, I had an unpleasant surprise. My strawberry had a bug on it. Disgusting! When my husband complained, they said they would take the amount off our bill, but we weren’t paying for it anyway. Needless to say, the next morning when we got our bill, they took it off, but neglected to take off for the voucher. My husband had to go to the front desk and clear it up. Overall, the staff, at Westin, provides a good service. The rooms need sprucing up. Showerheads need to be replaced. The hallway carpets are stained and need a good cleaning or replacing. I don’t believe we will stay here again and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

Worth the extra $
By AJ, 1/18/10
I travel every week, 3 days a week. The Westin in Charlotte has always been a place I look forward to staying. The weekend I was staying, there were about 500 cheerleaders roaming the place but beyond that, everything was clean, clam and a great experience. I also ate at the Ember Grille and it was delicious!

Never been so disappointed in my life
By Jennifer Grooms, 12/8/09
Terrible customer service here. Bad communication. Hotel Check in attendant was absolutely rude. When we asked about a upgrade to a better bathroom. She hit one button and said no. She actually rolled her eyes. Fire alarm went off at 3:00 am we had to find out from other guests that it was safe to go back to our room. No one from the Hotel addressed the situation. When I wrote a complaint to the company they said that we did not make the reserveration so they would not recongize the complaint. I made the stupid reservation online my self. Very dissatified and this was an Awful experience. Stay at one of the other very good hotels in downtown Charlotte.

Most horrible experience ever
By Sarah, 10/28/09
To start off, anyone who stays here is stupid. We payed $25 a day for valet parking only to be robbed by the valet service. Apparently they thing that a bunch of women are stupid enough to believe someone broke the lock on our vehicle. There's no way possible to get in the vehicle we have that way without an alarm being set off. We had a GPS system and several packages stolen. There were no camaras in the parking garage, the valet service isn't even a part of the hotel, but that was not explained to us. The hotel management and valet service laughed at us. They didn't want us to call the police and file a report. When we did call the police they wouldn't even come down. This was not handled professionally at all. We would have been better off at a Budget Inn or something. The management at this hotel is arrogant and self-centered. Never again will this hotel get any of my money or my recommendation. The rooms were small, not well accomadated, and dirty. The stains on the sheets were horrible. You have to pay for anything you watch on TV unless you want to watch CBS all day. For the price you pay, it is a rip off. Yes, i am trashing this place because i'm mad, but i have a right to be. Whoever heard of going on vacation, being robbed, and getting laughed at by the people who are suppose to help. This was the worst experience i've ever had on a vacation. I don't and would never recommend this hotel to anyone, EVER!

Worst treatment ever!!!
By David, 3/15/09
From the moment I got there management was rude and unfriendly. They went out of their way to not be helpful with any little thing that came up and to look bothered and irritated with any request for even the most basic amenities. At every corner they were just....unhelpful. I'll even go so far as to say that they came close to ruining the trip for me which was otherwise, wonderful. Every time we went back to the hotel it was really unpleasant. I don't know her name but one blonde woman, who was the morning and afternoon manager, was particularly rude. Bless her heart she really went out of her way to make us miserable

Convenient to Convention Center
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/9/08
This hotel was comfortble as far as the rooms but found the bar and dining very high priced. Asked it there was anything close we could walk to for breakfast and we were told, no, we would need to go by car and then we found a place a couple of blocks from the hotel. Did not feel they were forthcoming with us. Convenient to the convention center. The rail system in Charlotte was not worth the money to ride on it and found it just as easy to walk. Trolley only runs during the week - no way to get around on the weekends except walk or car.

Great Room and Service
By chroneos, 6/14/08
My wife and I stayed at this hotel after I found online that it was the only hotel with more than three stars that allowed dogs (at no additional charge, even!). The room was very clean and the people at the front desk were extremely helpful. The one thing worth noting about the Westin Charlotte is that a number of things that are typically included with a room were not included, such as pool and fitness access as well as internet access, but the a la carte aspect is probably what allowed for the room to be as inexpensive as it was ($97/night). Some might find this annoying, but I seldom find myself actually using some of these things (except for internet, which is $10/day). The valet is prompt and very friendly. It's $22/day, but it's only $6/day more than self-parking, so if that sort of convenience is your thing, I'd say it's worth it. All in all, this is my choice whenever staying in Charlotte.
