Great Hotel
By Theresa, 6/10/10
We stayed in the Suite on the first floor. It had plenty of room and we also got it for a great price. The hotel is close to the subway station and starbucks is just around the corner. If you stay there try Dean's Pizzeria a couple blocks down- it's great! overall we were very pleased with this hotel.

Small but wonderful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/10
There were NO bedbugs, in fact in was spotless. The floors were new, the woodwork and lobby remodeled. Our room was cleaned every day, new towels. The hair dryer was nonfunctional, but they immediately sent up a new one. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's in a wonderful neighborhood, close to the subway station on 87th. The rooms are tiny, without coffee makers or refrigerators, but as we didn't spend much time in the room, but to sleep it was fine. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind "small" We loved it.

Second time around was a charm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/31/08
when we first arrived it looked like a tsunami hit the lobby but once we got to our rooms we were shocked that they actually did an awesome job with the room had a nice brand new flat screen television, new bed, shower looked like it belonged in a mansion.the staff was very friendly especially the tall guy behind the front desk I forget his name very helpful there should be more staff like him,the location was great just steps away from central park, train station on the corner, various places to eat overall dont be fooled by the lobby area very good hotel and would definitely stay again and reccomend to my friends as well.the reviews about bedbugs are false as I seen none the entire stay.

Industrial Noise
By KURT, 3/30/08
The biggest plus for the the Belnord is its location, Upper West Side of Manhattan, walking distance to Central Park and the Museum of Natural History, and Broadway is just around the corner. We found the room, sheets and bedding clean. A major flaw was the sound of the heating system, it was like listening to a jumbo jet warming up its engines. The Hotel was under going renovations, and noisey work started early and finished late. For the Budget traveller I would recommend it. For people looking for more luxury, spend more money and stay else where!

Bedbugs 'R Us!!!!
By dharma713, 9/24/07
I thought that I'd give this place a try in order to save a few dollars. Big mistake on my part. I've never run hotel and you can call me crazy but just don't think there's any excuse for bugs infesting a bed that I sleep in or for those bugs feasting on me while I sleep as I wound up itching and covered in bites inluding on my face. I was moved and occupied 3 different rooms during my 7-day stay. Wrong answer. As for the rooms themselves, consider yourself lucky if you have a closet to store your belongings and if the carpet is clean. Try not to get neck strain while watching the television that's at ceiling level. Try meditation in order to relax on their most uncomfortable beds. So that's what equates a "budget hotel"? Sad. Ironically, the one thing that you'd think would be a problem (shared bathrooms) wasn't. They were fine, clean and there were 3 or 4 on every floor. On the bright side, the location is great. I love the Upper West side. But that's about all I can offer as an endorsement for the Belnord.

Not bad considering
By Alan, 5/11/07
I read some of the other reviews for this hotel that harshly criticize it and I felt the need to write one myself. Given that the price per night for a room is $70 and up, I think that this place is a great hotel for budget travelers. Even my girlfriend, who wasn't too excited about staying at a "budget" hotel, now suggests this place to her friends. Granted, the rooms aren't as nice as they could be, and the employees aren't nearly as invested in their jobs as they should be, but you get what you pay for. This hotel is in a great location, the facilities were clean, I felt safe staying there, and plan on going again. As far as the bed bugs go, I didn't have that problem. That is something to take into consideration before booking, though.

Great Time in NYC
By Kara, 1/3/07
The hotel Belnord was a great pick for us. The location was wonderful. Great eats and shopping right near by. We loved the "Hot and Crusty" pizzeria that was only a block away. The room was small but that was to be expected. Staff was friendly and assisted us with luggage and helpful in locating near by points of interest. Maid service was timely and provided us with clean linings on a daily basis. Room was a little hot at times even with the radiator off. Only downfall to the hotel was there was no elevator however we were aware of this before arrival. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to New York on a budget. We chose to go New Years Eve weekend so it was a bit pricier then normal, $220 a night. However we enjoyed the hotel and the neighborhood. Will def stay again soon.
