Description

Located in the heart of Palermo Viejo, a typical neighbourhood, known as 'the SoHo of Buenos Aires'.During the last couple of years, Palermo Viejo has become a lively marketplace for contemporary design, collectibles, antiques, and furniture. No other neighborhood in Buenos Aires offers such a concentrated mix of unique shops carrying quirky stuff, national name-brands, and one-of-a-kind luxury items. Pioneers since 1998, Casa Alfaro B&B defines a different way of lodging, integrating yourself to this place and feel it as home. It is a Bed & Breakfast designed for guests whom they look to live the city like a local. The house was built almost one hundred years ago and today is a B&B with a rustic & ethnic ambiance. It has two large terraces, a garden with an ancient oak tree, living room, TV with cable, video, music, library and reading room, and two lovely patios that in summertime create a calm scope. Casa Alfaro B&B has 11 rooms and a family suite, all decorated with a personal & original style. Rooms view to our nice Spanish patio or relaxing garden It will be an honor to welcome you and make your stay a pleasant and memorable one!

Terrible stay - avoid at all costs
By ,
1. My flight got in at 5am, so I was rather grogilly disappointed to find that this hotel has employed a cool photographer, the result being that reality looks NOTHING like the website. 2. My "superior terrace room" had one yellow coloured wall and EVERYTHING else - bedding, walls, cupboards, bathroom, everything was plain hospital white! It was musty and everything felt rather damp and cold, but to be fair it was cold andraining in BA that weekend; everything was clean, but NOT at all what I would call a nice looking room, or anything like the website promised. Noidea where the rooms with the cool decor on the website are, perhaps theydid them up for the photo shoot only! 3. The ENTIRE hotel, especially the common areas smell like some very strong, petroleum product based cleaner, and I avoided hanging out in thehotel common areas as much as possible because the smell was so overwhelming 4. The hot water and shower in my bathroom (the Coral room) were dodgy. In5 minutes the water went from hot to lukewarm, and then it just gets rathercold, and on a cold day its just uncomfortable. The shower is a writeoff, the pressure will take you forever to wash your hair if its long 5. Any notions of a homely place with uber friendly staff you might have you should throw out of the window. Although people speak perfect English, this is like any other non-descript, characterless place you will stay at,where the guy at the desk will tell you when breakfast is, when thecheck-out time is, and there are maps etc. at the desk, but my request forhelp with bus tickets was met with - you'll have to go to the bus station(not correct as I later found out, you can book your tickets online withsome of the bigger bus companies without the non-tourist friendly experience of going to the ticket counters at Retiro) and that was that.Staff are corteous, but the description makes it sound like this is one of those places with helpful, happy people - its not 6. This place is a rip off, he staff will try to overcharge you in every possible way - they charged me half a days stay for oversleeping a few hours, even though the staff was talking to me on the phone/in my room all morning, they didn't mention it till I checked out and made it seem like they did not mind at all My advice: STAY ELSEWHERE. You can stay at other places that provide essentially the same facilities, ie a clean bed and ensuite loo, for lessmoney, because this is a no-frills establishment. Frankly, I don't see theneed to pay for the cost of Casa Alfaro's website developer

Not worth the money
By ,
Como en Casa has been by far the most disappointing place we have stayed in, due to the limit of services it offers for the price charged. We were charged the price of US$55 for a double room, which is the price we paid for accommodation at the 4 star Dos Reyes hotel in the seaside resort of Mar del Plata! Yes, the place is clean and well maintained, but it was not welcoming at all. For the price at the Dos Reyes Hotel, we were offered the following for example: - welcome drink -television in the room -bathroom in the room -a business centre with internet access -spa and gym -check out time of 12:00pm -buffet breakfast Now, these are services that arent fundamental to a good stay, and are definitely not requirements, but for the same price, this is what Como en Casa offered us: -no internet access (even though web reviews say otherwise) -no television in the room -private bathroom outside the room -about 30 rules hung on the wall telling guests what they probably already know they shouldnt do. -and the worst thing of all, a note passed under the room door very early in the morning reminding us that we have to check out by 10:00am or face a 50% surcharge. Honestly, we have never experienced that rudeness at all before! Not even pompous, upper class hotels are this rude. US$55 may not seem like a lot of money but when one experiences the services offered at other Bed & Breakfasts in Argentina, not to mention hotels as well for lower or equal prices, you realise that these people are ripping guests off. This place certainly does not feel homely at all! I would never recommend this place to anyone!

Great place, wonderful host!
By ,
A friend of mine gave me the hint to stay at Casa Alfaro B&B. It is a great alternative for those who want to explore Buenos Aires and do not want to stay in a hotel. Casa Alfaro B&B is located in the Palermo Viejo area, close to almost everything. Jeronimo, the owner, gave me a very warm welcome and you feel immediately home in this nice, charming B&B that has just been refurbished. There are twelve rooms, all very nice and newly renovated. A large living room and a cozy terrace are nice hangouts where you meet people and where you feel like in your own home. My room was the comfortable and I loved it. I woke up with the noise of birds singing - something you don't really expect in Buenos Aires. Centrally located and still quiet and cozy - what else do you want? I can highly recommend Casa Alfaro B&B. The house is great, the location is central and Jeronimo is a great host. You feel like home here. I haven't stayed too often in a B&B but knowing Casa Alfaro B&B I now appreciate the comfort of a hotel, and "feeling home" at the same time. A perfect combination. For sure, not my last visit to Casa Alfaro B&B.

Casa Alfaro B&B: worth the money!
By ,
Casa Alfaro B&B has been by far the best B&B we have stayed in. We were charged the price of US$80 for a double room, with private ensuite bath & queen sized bed. Rooms have just been refurbished, and everything is spotless! This B&B is clean, well maintained, perfectly located and vey welcoming. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a nice bottle of Cabernet wine. Lovely touch! Every morning we had a delicious buffet breakfast. And every afternoon, we had complimentary tea & coffee with assorted cookies & cakes. I can highly recommend Casa Alfaro B&B: great pleace, excellent location and perfect service.

Lovely!
By ,
We had a wonderful stay at the Casa Alfaro B&B (formerly Como en Casa B&B). The location is great, on a quiet, tree-lined street in a lively neighborhood, and within a short walk of the tube. The hostess Flavia is very sweet and thoughtful and offers great recommendations on what to see and do. We stayed in one of their twelve guest rooms, on the 1st floor. It was comfortable and handsomely appointed. What I appreciated was the wireless LAN. I was online without any problems, sitting in the cozy living room with my laptop, having a drink and checking my emails. The living room is also a great place to meet other guests. Breakfast was delicious too! I would highly recommend this lovely B&B.

A Super Find!
By ,
The personnel are friendly, helpful and courteous; most speak English. Rooms are modest but the value is great. The location is perfect for getting around all areas of BA. There is a myriad of restaurants within a very short walk. We had wonderful meals at every place. The area is gentrifying with lots of street life of people out enjoying themselves. We will return to stay at Como en Casa next January 2008.

I will definitely come back here !
By ,
I'm shocked to read any negative reviews of Como en Casa. I just stayed there and found it to be one of the best places I stayed in, while in Argentina. I highly recommend Como en Casa to anyone searching for a place full of character and charm, in a fancy neighbourhood, ideal for restaurants and shopping. After visiting several cities in this country, I found that all web reviews are not often done with knowledge of the place. I will definitely come back here when I come to BA.
