Embassy Suites Dorado del Mar - Beach & Golf Resort, Dorado

Dorado del Mar is the perfect getaway spot. It is not expensive and the amenitites are great. The complimentary breakfast is super, the complimentary managers reception is perfect, the staff is great, sweet and honest, service is great, the pool is beautiful. We absolutely loved it.

friendly staff,clean room and comfortable Beach was a mess and small. trash and seaweed everywhere, did not feel safe at night going to parking garage with all the casino traffic, casino was a negative for this resort although a pretty place, too noisy even on 6th floor. garden view room overlooked park garage and casino, valets would not help with luggage and not friendly at all. Breakfest buffet ok but greasy and coffee to strong, resort fees at check out will surprise you. But even with the negatives we enjoyed Puerto Rico but do not recommend this place for families, police were there twice for unknown reasons.

I like the quick front desk welcome and room availavility. the hospitality of everyone in the hotel staff, Especially the professionalism of his manager Mr. Crespo and his staff at the bar George and angel on happy hours. The great service by Aileen at the restaurant area,the excelent service for towels at the pool and a very beautiful smile on the service by Ms. Queeney at the restaurant in the pool area. All amenities were great thefree breakfast in the morning with late schedule up to 9:30 or 10:30 for holidays in the breakfast area Mr. Victor the cook of omelettes in the breakfast area. The room service outstanding always clean and nothing missing with very excellent prices on the food and the presentation of the plate on the room service. Thanks to Mr. Crespo the manager who was all over the place ensuring good service to every guest at the hotel and the Casino. My family will look into a third vacation at the Embassy suits for such an excellent, facility, service and smile of the staff. The parking area always clean and not problems. Thank you for such an excellent staff and facility I will recomment your hotel to everyone in San Antonio, Texas.

Loved the beach and swimming pools, free bottled water each day by the pool. Fun local traditions on weekends. Great breakfast! The room always smelled clean,and was easy to get to the water! Never bored! Loved the restaraunts, some of everything. What a beautiful setting!

My gf and I just got back from a Monday-Friday trip. . .excellent value for the money. We stayed in the resort the whole time since there is really nothing in the town of Dorado worth exploring. You will need a rental car or taxi/shuttle if you plan on leaving the resort, San Juan is about 30 minutes away. We originally booked a room in the Embassy Suites, but were told they were sold out when we arrived. Not sure how that was possible since the place was a ghost town all week (a few nights we were the only people in the restaurant at 8pm). They upgraded us to the time shares next door, which worked out since we had a ground floor ocean view with kitchen. That said, you'd have to leave the resort to go food shopping to take full advantage of the kitchen. Otherwise it's only good for storing/reheating leftovers. Room was clean and in good shape. The free breakfast was pretty decent since it is cooked to order, plus a wide variety of buffet items available. They also have a free happy hour each night from 5:30-7:30, no real limit on what you can order. The restaurants are so-so and are hit-or-miss in terms of the service and food. The staff are very nice, but they do not really know what they are doing. We had to ask for silverware, condiments, etc. almost everytime. Some nights the food came quickly, others we waited forever. It's a very laid back environment, so don't expect a 5 star restaurant experience. The food itself was decent, not spectacular. The Italian place, Oregano was not even as good as Olive Garden. Pretty bland. We only went the one time. Wine lists at both restaurants are good though. The pool area is very nice and the beach is good. Although the actual beach area is kind of small, not a ton of sand. Don't expect to walk the beach for miles in any direction. . .it quickly becomes jagged rocks and cliffs. The golf course is nice, not very challenging but in good shape. Kind of pricey if you want to play in the morning ($100), but after three it's $50, which is worth it. If you go during the week like we did, expect less amenities/services than if you head down for a weekend. We could see a vast difference on Friday as we were leaving compared to Mon-Thurs. Nothing terrible, just less going on. Bottom line. . .we would definitely go again, can't beat the value for the money, especially if you are content with just laying on the beach all day and doing nothing.

First I'd like to thank other people whose reviews I used to make the decision of whether or not to stay at Embassy Suites. After a lot of searching on the internet, the reviews were very positive for ES. We just returned from our trip and were very happy with our stay. The rooms are very clean and a cut above in quality. The place is a very nice facility for families. The food was good but pricey at the hotel restaraunts. The pool and beach are lovely. Watch out for the price of drinks. They'll ding you with that! Wait for the free drinks you can get from 5:30 to 7:30pm every night. We had already been in Puerto Rico for two weeks with family and spent our last few days at ES. It was well worth it! My family and I would definitely go there again!

We had a week stay at the Embassy Suites Dorado in early May- myself, my husband and 4 children (ages 9 months-8 years). The lobby/suites/restaurants were very clean, although the grounds could have been cleaned more often (may empty cups in the pool area). The breakfast buffet was excellent and offered great variety. The night time manager's reception was OK- open bar (who could complain?) and very limited snacks (popcorn, chips & salsa). Overall, the staff was very friendly and accomodating. The staff at the poolside bar & grill seemed to spend more time socializing with each other than tending to guests. Service was very slow and drinks very expensive. It was a great place for kids- the pool was great and the beach was small, but perfect for young ones. Luis, the staff member who ran the activities for the children was GREAT! Overall, a great place to go for a reasonably priced family getaway.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The management took care of my whole family and the view was amazing. The two room suites made our stay very relaxing. A must go!

The hotel is great, just make SURE that you are not booked into the Aquarius Vacation club, which is part of the hotel's property, but NOT Embassy Suites. The rooms there are standard and definitely two star quality. We booked our vacation through American Airlines vacations. Since we arrived around seven o'clock in the evening,they pulled a fast one on us, but after complaining to American Airlines staff, we were switched into a room in the actual hotel and given an $80 food voucher and a HUGE apology. That said, the staff is incredibly courteous and attentive. The breakfasts are HUGE and very good, but the coffee is ok. The beach is great for families. Since it lies on a bay, you do not have large waves crashing, nor do you have to worry about the little ones' safety. In fact, some people actually place their beach chairs in the water! Very calm. My wife and son sat in the water while I sat under an umbrella with my newborn. You definitely need a car to get there. This hotel is perfect if you want to get away from the crowds. There are no significant attractions around there. It's a welcomed departure from hotels in San Juan that are very busy and more expensive. It's a place to kick back and enjoy the beach and weather. The pools are no deeper than five feet, are large, and there is a great kiddie pool. The outside restaurant is good, and eliminates the need to run to the indoor restaurant for orders. The restaurant where breakfast is served also serves lunch and dinner, and you won't be out of place in jeans and sneakers. There are also two more restaurants that are more up scale. It's a very good place for the price. The rooms are spotless and large, another plus for the family without the noise and chaos of a "family hotel". We're heading back for a week in a few months. Paul
