Vagabond Inn, Merced

When you first open the door and walk in th odor hits you even the kids said somthing about it. We counted 8 flies on the wall. . The AC was not working right. The bathroom seat was broken. The staff was rude, when we asked for more towels and when we check in. You can stay at some nicer hotal accross the freeway or up the next exit for about the same price. No pool for the kids

What I disliked about this place well let's start with the bugs and flies and the list goes on. I visited the Vagabond Inn in Merced and I was very disappointed as well as embarrassed. I invited a guest to share a room with me. Once we entered the room, an odor met us at the door that practically knocked us back out of the room. The carpet was extremely filthy and bugs were crawling all over the place while fighting with the flies. My guest pulled the blanket back which had not been cleaned and a spider politely came walking out. My guest then decided to go out and buy her own linen. Then my guest happened to notice something I have never seen before in my life crawling from under the bed, after examining the room thoroughly we asked for another room which was not any better then the previous one. Someone please call the health department and condemn the place quick!!! I'll never go back

In terms of cleanliness this hotel is not bad but i wouldn't recommend it if you want to sleep. Union Pacific railroad is less than a half mile away and runs 24hr day with horns 90-110 decibels. Sleeping is difficult if not impossible. Dont expect much for b'fast except watered down orange/apple juice and a wrapped up pastry from within reception..? Staff were courteous.
