I've traveled in the Asia/Pacific region for nearly 20 years. This was by far one of the most beautiful regions I've ever seen. Over 45 islands with private beaches are within reach; diving, snorkeling, kayaking, rock climbing, hiking and touring are all included in the price. Service, food and the wonderful staff are absolutely first-rate. If you love the water and love to be in it, around it and under it, this is the place to go. I plan to return on a regular basis.
I think this is the best resort in the WORLD. Having visited beach resorts around the world (e.g. the Bahamas, Mauritius, Greek Islands, French Riviera, Southern Spain, Acapulco, Mexico) this resort has the best service and scenery. The food in the resort is fantastic! The head chef cooks all types of cuisine: Italian, Japanese, Filipino, Mongolian in 5-star level quality. My family stayed for 3 nights and 4 days.
All the activities in El Nido are included in the price. My family and I first went island hopping. The waters of the bay range from dark blue to dark green, it is a pretty amazing site. It looks like a setting of a "paradise" movie (eg. Blue Lagoon, The Beach).
The next day, we went to Minoloc Island where the Big Lagoon and the Small Lagoon are located. Before you reach the Big Lagoon, our bangka had to pass by a natural breakwater that keeps the lagoon calm. But the best part of the tour for me is the Small Lagoon. The scenery is just too breathtaking. Our bangka is too big to enter the small lagoon so each pair had to enter it using kayaks. My sis and I are not very coordinated so our kayak slammed to the rock islands the first time. Everyone else was calmly sailing towards the Small Lagoon. It was very funny. To enter the small lagoon, you have to enter a small rock arc. Only kayaks can pass through here. We even had to bend. Then the scenery is magnificent: tall limestone cliffs surround the small lagoon and the area is totally silent, only birds chirping can be heard. The area is relatively big with different passageways leading to smaller lagoons, my sis and I nearly got lost! It was stupid of us not to bring cameras when we went in since we were afraid to drop the camera. Oh well, this gives us a reason for going back!
After the Lagoon tours, we then went to a sunset cruise, just a couple of meters away from our resort where we fished for bisugo and soldier fish as we watched the sunset. A sad note though, as we watched the sunset, we spotted kaingin activities about 500 meters away. Our guide told us that the kaingin is still being practiced by some farmers in the Palawan Mainland. Very sad.
Our last tour was another island hopping tour of an island where a resort was burned down in the late 1990s. My sis and mom then went to a Mangrove river cruise. This area is full of trees and birds periodically perched on the branches every sunrise and sunset, and then fly away again.
The El Nido resort is truly 5-star. It has good facilities, fantastic service, and breathtaking scenery! We were really sad to leave the place. Hopefully, I can return.
