Can't wait to go back

Stayed in the Lord Nelson suite located in rear of building. Trip was middle of November 2010 and we lucked out with a weekend with temperatures in the mid 60s. We intended to stay at the large hotel chain down the road in the center of town however they were all booked. They actually suggested the James Getttys Hotel as it was within walking distance of the town square.
The hotel, considering how far the building itself dates back, is equipped with an elevator which was a nice feature instead of carrying heavy luggage to the 2nd floor. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The room itself had a livingroom area with a sofa and recliner. There also was an efficiency kitchen with a full-sized frig, microwave, stove and cabinets. If someone had a small child this would be ideal for cooking or throwing together food.
The best feature my boyfriend and I enjoyed was coming back every day after a long day of sightseeing to discover the baskets left by the cleaning staff. They were filled with fresh baked breads, muffins, and cookies. They also left pitchers of orange juice and water in the refrigerator. The room was also equipped with a small coffee pot in which the staff also placed small carafes of milk in the frig.
I've read other reviews and did not find the hotel to be noisy due to outside activity. Yes cars pass during the day however at night it got quiet very early. Even on Friday & Saturday, despite the beautiful weather, we discovered that the tourist part of town shuts down sooner than you'd expect. Yes there is a bar next door to the James Gettys but it wasn't overly crowded or noisy from the street. Our room was in the rear so perhaps we just didn't hear it? Also, I read in another review on a different site that the parking in the rear was limited and filled with kids from the bar next door. We found that to be quite opposite and never had an issue getting parking.
Overall, our trip to Gettysburg in November 2010 was memorable. Great weather, great sightseeing, and a great hotel stay. We fell in love with the town and cannot wait to go back.
