Hotel Mossone, Ica

I stayed in the Mossone Hotel February last year(2006). The Mossone is literally an oasis in the middle of the dessert. It's very rustic, but clean, good food, and the service is great. I took a tour on a buggy to the dessert and it included sandboarding; it was lots of fun. Going back to the bus terminal in Ica was a little scary (we left at night), but if you have the taxi driver drop you inside the bus terminal and do not wander the streets on your own, you'll be fine. Do not miss the Nazca lines, but is best to take a helicopter or plane from Ica than to drive; we drove there and it was exhausting.

It was really very special for family, nice hotel good beds all the rooms very clean and baths too, wonderfull place for children playing, enjoy nights at disco, do splendid sandboarding, lots of fun and peacefull!!!!!

Spent 2 days at this hotel. I would have to say the best it has going for it is the location. It is a great looking old building, but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. If you are looking for high quality rooms, this is not the one. The beds need new matresses and pillows and the cleanlines can use some help. Overall though the staff is great and so is the food. Spend your cocktail hour in the veranda and watch the sun set. It will make up for the lumpy mattress and sporadic hot water. The pool is wonderful and so are the mixed drinks.

This is a great place to forget about the world and relax - recommended for people with stress problems. The sand dunes are amazing!

I have stayed at this hotel since 2000. I am a native of Ica, and as a kid I always wanted to stay at that hotel. I just wished that the new owners pay an unexpected visit and verify our comments. i have written their headquarters office this last June 2004, but I haven't received a comment from them. There is a new hotel named Hotel Swiss, US$40.00/$45.00 balcony. It's located at the end of the lagoon. PRETTY CLEAN.
