I booked Best western inn and suites, Merrillville through Expedia.com. I basically just needed a clean room and safe location as I were in town visiting family Function. This hotel well exceeded our expectations! The hot breakfast was quite pleasant and offered anything you could want including great coffee. The beds were clean and comfortable with all the amenities. I haven't used the pool but it was clean and Indoor. The Staff was very friendly.
They answered to all my queries & provided the information as required by me. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.
After a long day of driving the last thing I needed was a bad hotel experience at 11pm
PLEASE know that I am not one to complain, but when we were mistreated the way we were I feel it is important to prevent others from having this experience.
The front desk attendant Rita didn't greet us when we came in. When I said we were there to check in she still said nothing. I gave my last name and she typed it in. "Give me ID" was all she said.
I did. "Give me Credit card" and I did.. just hoping to get this over with and up to the room to sleep.
She handed me the key, my Credit card and my id with a sticky note and the room number and still said nothing. UGH..
But I took it and went to the room. The smell was overwhelming when you opened the door. It was a smoking room. Not just any smoking room, one that was so smelly there was no way any human could stand the smell. Even a smoker would have left.
When I called the front desk I was told by Rita there were no other rooms available... Funny since there were only 3 cars in the parking lot.
I finally had to call Bestwestern customer service. They confirmed there were indeed rooms available
After nearly 45 mins on the phone.. the customer service people basically forced Rita to upgrade us.
Even then the room was not an improvement. The smell was horrible, the a/c unit was so noisy it was impossible to sleep and the beds were the hardest I have ever slept on..
Please think twice..
When I checked in, they took good care of me. I had a small problem with my debit card going thru and the desk clerk was very patient while I was fixing the problem. My room was clean, everything in order. The pool and jacuzzi were wonderful. Because I travel for business to this area, I signed us up for a coporate account. I am very pleased with this property and have told the president and owner of my company to stay there.
Yes, the owners are of Indian decent, but treated me very nicely!
i did not like how the rooms smelled like. found hair in the shower, pool is dirty above all the staff was mean and hard to understand. i was skeptical with the room price it was sold higher to me than the person ahead of me, i felt ripped off!!!!
Rudest desk clerk I've seen. He told me my confirmation sheet was just an email that he did not have to honor. He called a Best Western rep and gave the phone to me. The rep said Best Western is not governed by Yahoo travel and that anyone can make a web page and put someone else's logo and address on it. At one point, the clerk told me I was not to speak and that if I had a comment I was not to make it. He said we could go somewhere else for the night but he would still charge us the rate he was giving us ($25/night more than my confirmation) There is SOOOO much more but I don't want to take up too much space. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau with a more detailed description of my experience. Another note-the coffee pot had not been cleaned from the previous guests and still had the old grounds in it.
