Jameson Inn Kingsport, Kingsport

Don't TRY to Stay at the Jameson! After 14 hours of flying I arrived at the Jameson at 7:30 pm. There I was told to go someplace else. - That they would not honor my prepaid, late arrival guaranteed room that was reserved 6 weeks in advance (confirmation # 65350.) That management had freed up these prepaid reservations for others. And that management had made no provisions for alternative lodgings. In other words, the Jameson would not honor it's contract and you can go-suck-an-egg and sleep in your rental car. Businesses are judged on how they handle their mistakes. - Jameson Inns management doesn't understand that!

For YEARS the Jameson Inn was our favorite place to stay in Kingsport. We visit the area at least twice a year. However, recently the hotel was sold (as I was later informed by management), apparently immediately the new owners raised the rates and cut back on service. We paid about 15% more than usual. So what used to be an outstanding value now scores below average at best. Some of the furnishings in our room were broken. The staff who used to be so very friendly and "go the extra mile and beyond" helpful are now noticeably less than friendly to downright surly. The continental breakfast is now pretty poor (very over-ripe fruit, stale baked items, etc), the area is not cleaned well and the employee attending is not the least bit friendly. In our most recent stay cleanliness was also an issue, our room was never... ever vacumed in the week we were there. On one day I even tracked down the cleaning person and specifically asked that our room be cleaned (as we did not have it cleaned the day before). Imagine our shock and embarassment when we brought a new client back to our room to discuss business later that afternoon and our room HAD NOT BEEN TOUCHED by the cleaning staff. When I went to the front desk to complain, the lame explaination by management was that I had asked for a new box of tissues earlier in the morning, so they assumed we only wanted the box of tissue and didn't want the room cleaned. The asst manager then explained that all the cleaning staff had gone home, even though one was standing right beside her at the time, so she loaded me up with clean towels and some shampoo and said that was the best she could do for us. Well needless to say, we have lost all respect for the staff. Too bad what used to be a very good hotel for us, a place we always looked forward to staying at when visiting Kingsport, has gone so far downhill, but sadly it has. For the first time in years we will have to start looking for a new place to stay on our frequent visits to Kingsport.

Liked the staff, especially regarding pets, I travel with pets, you have to pay extra but worth it. Rooms clean, good service if you need anything. I always stay here 3 to 4 times per year

The location was very convenient, the staff was very courteous to our softball team, and as a coach I felt very safe there with them.

This was the first time I've stayed at a Jameson Inn. The staff was helpful, polite and overall appeared to be genuine in their service. The room was comfortable, however, it was smaller than I expected. Several items that need improvement are the shower heads that flow poorly and the Breakfast bar that lacked a lot of the items made evident by the empty containers. The coffee was quite good and the make your own waffles added a nice touch to the bar. The Breakfast bar at the Holiday Inn Express is a good example of what one should expect when staying at an upscale lodging in Kingsport.
