Not a bad time..
Initially, I was skeptical about the Travelodge..but we couldn't beat the price. Be prepared, the hotel is really basic. But for us, this was okay this time. Of course there are plenty of fancier hotels on the island, but this worked for us. The hotel's staff was friendly and answered questions we had.
The hotel was very quiet, as it seemed we were one of few there (until the weekend of Cinco de Mayo)-but even then, the noise wasn't too bad. The hotel is pretty clean and maintenance responded to our concerns re: needing hotter water rather quickly.
I would have appreciated if the hotel was a bit closer to the center of the island, the hotel is at the far end of the island (the 2nd to last stop while riding the Wave). I would've liked to be closer to more action, but the peace & quiet were desirable.
The private beach access was fine, though narrow. But we could walk a short distance and meet the Gulf of Mexico-it was great.
I definitely feel it was worth the price we paid and we didn't have any complaints.
