Me and my husband and a couple of friends stayed at the travelodge in south padre island tx for spring break ! Hoping to have a awesome spring break it turned out to be a living nightmare! The staff was so soso rude and they charged us for damaged towels and bed sheets which i didnt mind paying the 130 for them but the front desk lady let everyone know that it was so disgusting and was talking out loud to the housekeeping lady how bad the towels where . Its spring break hello O:U@#*@U)( and i payed for them couldnt she be more discrete! what happend to the privacy a hotel should give there customers... it was a nightmare i stayed in a tent the next day it was sosoooo much fun and way better than that dumb hotel and i only payed 15 dollars beware springbreakers stay away from that hotel there staff RUDE!

Travelodge is no lodge
By Danny, 03/14/09
We paid 60 dollars a night. We thought this was a good deal for spring break until the spring breakers arrived. It was loud and spring breakers were out of control. Some dude took off the fire extinguisher and started spraying people. Another day two fights broke out over some lame girl. They do serve breakfast in the morning a plus with kids. They do have a boardwalk to the beach but it is about 3 blocks to the beach. The room was fine and the housekeepers cleaned our rooms nicely sand and all. I give it 3 stars and would recommend this place anytime except spring break because the rates are affordable.

Dont Stay Here!!
By peace*love*frogs, 07/01/08
We had reservations through Expedia for 3 nights, still around $145 a night. It smelled like mold, we had a non working frig, toliet didn't flush, a roach in the restroom (alive) and later found out that we had no hot water. They replaced the frig, fixed the toliet for the night and told us that the water was fine in some sort of way. (the maintenance man didn't speak english very well) The next morning they gave us another room to take showers in. When the shower did finally have warm water, the water pressure was almost none. There was never any parking spaces either. We had to park ilegally or somewhere where it was for sure to get hit. Our room was the bigger family room with a sundeck on top. So Fri night all we heard was chairs moving across the ceiling and our girls had a track meet at 6am the next morning. The people at the front desk were short with me and rude. They also couldn't help me on a discount or satisfying customers because I booked with Expedia. I believe it should be their fault because it was their motel service that was horrible, not Expedia. For future reference...just avoid the Travelodge and stay some where on the south end, closer to everything.

OK place to stay
By LifeExamined, 05/29/07
but I would moderate your expectations. I would recommend not getting the king jacuzzi suite - jacuzzi is really tepid and not worth the extra $50 or so it cost us. Unfortunately, all the non-smoking rooms under $100 were sold out during our stay. Nice to have a breakfast buffet, although it was very crowded and with very limited food selection. I would recommend you tip the overworked staff who did a good job making waffles given the long lines for breakfast. Pros: relatively clean and close to the beach, free wireless internet access, and most rooms are inexpensive. Cons: could feel the springs in the bed (I could sleep but wife was uncomfortable), the king "suites" are not good deals and there isn't any view from most rooms. I'm a frequent traveler for business and for the price we paid would have preferred to stay at one of the other hotels on the Island for less than $200/night or even at the Hampton Inn in Brownsville for less than $100/night.

great stay at a great time of year
By omar, 04/15/07
After easter is a great time to go. Staff was friendly, walk to beach was not bad (we all need the execise); free breakfast; restaraunts were a short drive a way or easy access to free bus...overall, for the price this is a great place if you don't need the excess of higher end hotels...very safe and clean...

The best sleep on the beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/06
The walkway to the beach was handy, but to tight for words and the gate was always locked and you had to climb over to open it to get to the beach. At check-in time we got in early the room was very clean. Orbitz had a mix up on our room, said I booked a room for a smoker and I do not smoke. Tillie and David fixed it, and I said I would let Obitz know that a lie is nothing for them to tell you in order to get your money. If the breakfast had some meat and water to drink that would make the meal. Overall everything was clean and the pool area was very clean and nice.I love the view in the morning of the beach and sunrise over the water. We stayed in the back in room 242 the patio was wonderful on the upper floor. I will stay here again.

Not a bad time..
By Jennifer, 05/11/06
Initially, I was skeptical about the Travelodge..but we couldn't beat the price. Be prepared, the hotel is really basic. But for us, this was okay this time. Of course there are plenty of fancier hotels on the island, but this worked for us. The hotel's staff was friendly and answered questions we had. The hotel was very quiet, as it seemed we were one of few there (until the weekend of Cinco de Mayo)-but even then, the noise wasn't too bad. The hotel is pretty clean and maintenance responded to our concerns re: needing hotter water rather quickly. I would have appreciated if the hotel was a bit closer to the center of the island, the hotel is at the far end of the island (the 2nd to last stop while riding the Wave). I would've liked to be closer to more action, but the peace & quiet were desirable. The private beach access was fine, though narrow. But we could walk a short distance and meet the Gulf of Mexico-it was great. I definitely feel it was worth the price we paid and we didn't have any complaints.
