It was OK
It was overall a nice hotel, but after being there and seeing what else I could have had for a marginally more expensive price, I'm a little disappointed. It was not as near to the falls as advertised. There is no direct route to the falls, you have to walk down to Clifton Hill and take a round-about way to get to them. The hotel is kind of set off away from the main attractions, and located in the only shady looking part of the tourist district of Niagara Falls, ON. There were nicer hotels that were much closer to everything that I'll probably stay in next time.
The good: Very nice room, very clean, EXCEPTIONALLY comfortable bed, whirlpool jacuzzi was AWESOME! The room was very comfortable.
The bad: Room was nice, but not AS nice as other Courtyards that I have stayed in have been. The room was more like what you would expect from a Hampton Inn,Quality Inn, Best Western, etc. The swimming pool was FREEZING! I made sure to choose a hotel with an indoor pool, but it was way too cold for me to use, so I was sad about that! Plus the shuttle is $12.00 per person!!! I've both worked and stayed in hotels before where the shuttle was free, so I didn't like that too much!
My biggest complaint comes from the front desk staff. I checked in with a girl at the desk and when asked for payment method, I gave them my debit card. She rudely shoved the card back across the counter at me and asked if I had a card that was a "real" credit card. I asked what she meant and she said "This card says debit, do you have one that says credit on it?" I said I do but I want to put the room on the card I gave her. She told me that they prefer I use an "actual" credit card. I asked why, and explained that from the merchant's perspective, the cards work in exactly the same way. She said it was to "prevent any problems in the future with my billing." I took this to mean that she didn't trust me to have enough money in my bank account to pay for the room, which I found offensive especially considering I probably make more money than anyone who works at that hotel including the manager.
So overall, it wasn't bad, however, I advise that you spend the extra 30 bucks a night to get a nicer hotel thats closer to everything.
