So So Sol Melia
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/16/08
The Sol Melia calls itself a 5-Star property, but the rooms reflect more of a 3-Star anywhere else in the world. The hotel is at a very busy intersection and our room (like most of the rooms) face the intersection - if you know Lima, you know that using the horn in your car is a national pasttime. Very noisy. It is also not close to much of anything in Lima if you are there to sightsee.
But what really upset me was the pricing policy - I'd found a very good rate (90 day advance reservation) on the iternet for "$108 per night". When I go to pay with a credit card, they charge me $108 times 3.25 soles per dollar, even though the going exchange rate is 2.98 soles per dollar. So, I end up paying $118 per night - and it isn't the $10 difference that makes me upset, it's the fact that they took advantage of me. Know what I mean?
Unless you get a really good rate and you can sleep through the traffic noise, I think you can do better.
