Not even for Free!!!!!
By ,
My wife and I, visited Gamboa for our universary, on 1st May,2010. It was supposed to be a special occasion, and a very special moment, that turned out to be an embarasment. I arrived on, and checked in. Immediately went to our room, got change, and went to the restuarand, to celebrate our aniversary. Once in the restuarant, we waited for a while, before been attended. We finally got some one. We ordered, and again, had to wait for a while for our meal to come. After we finished, I called for the bill, I received the bill, and payed with a $100.00 bill. Once more, we had to wait. Finally, the waitress come back, with a form, and said that I had to fill it out, and I also had to show some ID. I taught this had to do with checking in, but the waitress informed me that this was about the procedures for tracking down counterfait money. I was outrage. This was an insult and an embarrasment to me and my wife. I asked if the administration knew anything about a marker, that every one else is using, and was told that, this is the procedure that Gamboa uses. I ended up paying my meal with smaller bills, and told them that I would never eat at the restaurant. For the remaining of our stay, I had to travel to Panama City every day for lunch. When I came back, I contacted RCI (time share), told them to do something about it, and was told that they could not do anything. I was supposed to stay for 7 days, well, I decided that it did not worth staying there any more. I left on the six day. I would not go back there, not even for free.

A Motel 6 on a nice piece of land
By ,
I would rate this hotel overall as an F-minus. This place is an absolute rip off - it is has the service of a Motel 6 (next to none) and the rooms (interiors) are maybe at best equivalent to a Holiday Inn - yet they somehow figure that they can rape the tourist at USD $200 a night. We spent two days there - the property really isn't that nice - more of a faade!!! My advice stay in Panama City - you will see more of the culture and have a better stay all around as there is nowhere to go nearby outside of this hotel so they can charge you whatever they like (and believe me they do) for all of your meals and beverages. Service was marginal at best and not many of the staff here spoke English either - hell they know that you have no choice if you want to eat while staying there. The so called canopy tour is an overpriced ski lift - and you might see one or two birds if you are lucky... -They also hit for USD $50 to get out there and another $50 to get back to the airport - rent a car it would be cheaper and the drive is very simple. AVOID THIS PLACE - complete rip off for the money stay in Panama City.

Hideous Hotel
By ,
from the mammoth pool with the enormous plaster of paris crocodile beside it, to the over priced mediocre food, this place is a monster in what might have been an otherwise quaint setting. I went there for the specific reason of visiting the embera. No repsonses to my inquiries about a tour there before I arrived and I the tour desk, once I did arrive, ignored my requests too and kept saying they would call me...right. I stayed in a villa, which was much nicer than the sterile looking bedrooms, but the windows won't open and they fog up when the air con is on, so you can't see out either. At 250 a night, I wish I had been at the canopy tower. I saw NO wildlife on the grounds, except for a few small birds.

What a different hotel!
By ,
Villas were clean and comfortable albeit a little remote from the main hotel building. Food was fair to good, nice buffets. Only one bar inside the hotel. Closed up kind of early. This is not a "nightlife" hotel, but a sedate, enjoyable respite from the hustle of the chain hotels. Great pool and lovely facilities. Kids love it. We want to return later this year.

we loved the place
By ,
we loved the resort - it's no place for people who like night life or shopping, but for people who love the outdoors or nature lovers it is a great place to visit - the staff treated us as well or better than many other places we have visited. Children will love it

There are better places in Panama
By ,
This resort is a complete disappointment. The facility is okay but the food and service were terrible. The food is very ordinary at a very high price. Better service can be found at any low-end chain in the U.S. The resort offers little except for overpriced tours to see the monkeys, etc. The jogging trail runs next to the sewage plant and also serves as a construction drive for the new wing of the facility.
