What the heck is going on here?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/08/09
This place has so much potential....but it is wasted. The grounds are beautiful. The restaurant was closed and the nearest place for food was 10 miles away. There were nice chairs..in the pool but they were hard to see due to the debris. There was breakfast with milk that expired 5 days earlier and was not replaced even when reported. We had 2 adjoining rooms and the key was defective on one of them, resulting in being locked out. Because the desk was unattended overnight, 5 people had to sleep in one room. The "game room" was full of empty bottles of booze, overflowing trash can and unidentifiable items in the refrigerator.

Not worth it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/07
This could be a really nice place, but they miss the mark in almost every way. We stayed in one of the king garden rooms - just outside our room was the incredibly noisy ice machine - which was not a problem since it was drowned out by the incredibly noisy, ancient air conditioner in our room. The room was very ordinary - kind of a design mish-mash - and everything seemed pretty old and tired. The free wi-fi did not work in our room nor did the hairdryer. Our attempts to get this remedied were unsuccessful. We ate dinner one night at The Blue Heron. We made our reservation for inside dining, but when we arrived we were advised that only outside was available. It was very buggy and there were spider webs covering the railing next to our table. The "special" drinks were not so special and the food was very ordinary. The service was abysmal. The live jazz they advertize never materialized. It is certainly not worth a special trip to eat here - but if you are staying here it is the only game in town unless you don't mind driving several miles. For what you get, I think it is very overpriced. The grounds are nice, if you don't look too close - there are lots of gardens (and lots of weeds), the pool area is kind of dirty with peeling paint, and the paths are just dirt and gravel so it is quite dusty. We did not avail ourselves of the spa services or the art studio. The one thing that is fantastic about this place is their promotional materials - everything looks great on their website and in their brochure. Unfortunately, the real thing leaves a lot to be desired. We had spent the previous five nights at La Posada in Santa Fe which was very, very nice - and we had eaten in some wonderful restaurants, so this was even more of a disappointment. We would never stay here again.

Beautiful and Peacful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/25/07
This resort was a wonderful place to stay. We loved the privacy of the hot tubs the resturant was so elegant and the food amazing. My boyfriend and I went in April the grounds were beginning to bloom but otherwise not so lush but that didnt deter from the beauty. It was rather quiet so ther weren't many staying there which was nice since we could enjoy the outside. We stayed in the casitas which were beautifuly furnished and everything was well maintained. We loved the fireplace and the private patio. The two of us also got spa treatments. The facilities were nice although it got rather hot in the massage room during the massage It was bit of a drive from the freeway and you have to look for the road. Otherwise I would recomment this Inn to anyone who wants to get away and not deal with the external destractions that are constently around us in the every day world.

Vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/29/05
This is a little hidden jewel in the desert. Huge cottonwoods, large ponds and spring, an organic garden all made me seem like I was far from the desert. Sunrise Springs offers incredible spa treatments, yoga classes and a clay studio. All of which I participated in and found most enjoyable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I dined at the Blue Heron restaurant for most of my meals and found it to be equal to or not better then most 4 star restaurants in town. They have a beautiful outdoor patio and a fun outdoor bar calle the Lotus Bar. Also on the property is a Japanese Teahouse where you can have a traditional tea ceramony. I will be back. The property is big, so walking to all the faclities can be a bit of a problem if you are not used to the high altitude.
