Great staff with few amenities.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/08
My son and I spent Christmas 2008 week and weekend at this adequate Bed & Breakfast. For the most part, the on-duty staff of one is supurb.Although advertised as large our room was very small with only a desk chair to sit in when the fold out is extended. It was, however, very clean. With 15 rooms, there are only 3 newspapers delivered to the hotel for all to peruse for the day , and for the early riser, one must wait until 8 am or after for coffee to be delivered to the lobby. The location is wonderful, but if one drives, there is inadequate parking for a full facility , and the 2 lots for those lucky enough to find a spot are tiny and very difficult to manage. Expect very pleasant staff and few amenities. The breakfast is like one would experience at an Interstate motel, but the afternoon wine and cheese is done well.Overall, Gables is an adequate spot to base one's visit to the area as long as there is no expectation of an extraordinary lodging experience.

wonderful inn
By thomasc, 02/26/07
My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary in Sausalito at the Gables. What a wonderful find!! We weren't sure before we saw the place (websites are always misleading)but the place was perfect for us. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts in the morning were fantastic. Wine and cheese in the evening was a great touch. It is a very comfortable, cozy Inn. The price was reasonable, especially when you factor in the free parking (all other Sausalito hotels charge for that). I would definitely recommend this inn for anybody visiting the area.

Worst experience in California
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/05
Arrived at this hotel after 12 wondeful nights touring around california. This was to be a special trat at the end of our holiday. We checked in and were shown to an awful room with a damp smell and dirty carpet and curtains. We immediately complained and said we were not staying. We had argumnets about a cancelation policy and were told we would be charged one nights stay. $230!. We argued that we had not cancelled but had arrived but were not satisfyed with the hotel. We still had to pay a charge but there was no way we were going to stay in this place, The worst in all of our stays in California and the most expensive!
